Normally the wind is blowing from the north side here in Porto Santo.
Sometimes it is coming from the southwest. Then it is a different story.

Wow well done guys! You are the best boatneighbours. Was this during Ciaran?
Im very proud of you for just having your stuff in order and for helping out others. Well done guys!
Cheers guys….
I have heard that Porto Santo can be truly horrible in strong wind from the wrong direction glad you made it and where able to help others
Hi guys!
How sad is to see a boat getting damaged against the rocks. It is also very sad to see other boats being damaged because someone didn't pay the right attention to their chain and engine. On the good side, another demonstration of great community effort and solidarity.
Cheers!
Hi Michael & Leontien. I hope you're both well. Well done to you both for helping your fellow sailors. That looked absolutely horrendous!!! It's enough to put you off anchoring altogether!!! We're still in Alcaidesa La Linea. We'll be leaving next April to be hauled out for maintenance. We are going to check out Motril as you suggested. Stay safe and we look forward to following you on your adventures. Daryl & Shirley SV Dream Catcher.
Can i get the nr of your moory bowl 😂 that's the safest
Don't think Ill be visiting Porto Santo any time soon.
Do you think 2023 has been windier than normal?
Who pays for the damages ? Are you just on your own?
Thx for that video….no better TV than harbour TV. You make me dream of my cruisin days…years….will be back!
I‘m very disliked about this video.
Firstly, telling the german guy was in the bar, while his anchor dragged, is a privat thing, you don’t know his circumstances, why you want to publish this fact?? Then about the accident of the broken chain: It seems it makes you feel proud about having filmed the whole scenery, putting even twice the sequence where the boat touches the Katamaran and then the picture from the rusty chain; it‘s just sensationalism! This is a nice and helpful guy and he is part of your so called „sailing family“ like any other in this harbour. You can make and keep videos, but to publish something like this, while the concerning person is still living on this place, is very offending. Would you have made the same thing about a friend of you??
That harbor looks like a disaster zone. Won’t be stopping there.
We are Hazchem, the 1st one to drift at the beginning of the video. We feel so sorry for Sabir, we never knew we made him drift, too focused on our trouble. May I share the link of your video to my friends to explain them the storm? Thanks a lot for the good job❤
Poor preparation, amateurism, naivety and panic.
Porto Santo is no shelter zone for 50kts SW. It's more a trap. I would go out two miles further East and shelter on the east side of the island in one of the bays without swell built up from SW or NW.
Wow guys, what a story. You were both absolutely amazing along with others in the habour, well done all of you. You have shown Porto Santo as such a lovely place previously, but this paints a much different picture. Again, well done all of you. We really enjoyed your narrative of what happened throughout the storm, again, well done guys xx
BTW, nothing worse than people who were not there having a go. You did a superb job xx
Love and miss you both. Merry Christmas xxx
C'è qualcuno che porta sfortuna in quel porto😂
That was a nightmare to watch! Good to see the cooperation across the boats incl the pilot boat, but what a shit harbour! Your boat is much safer on the open sea than inside a harbour like that.
Hi Guys, Thanks for the great videos, I'm interested in your mounting clamp system for your solar panel, could you let me know where in can locate supplier. Cheers Doug
Ive spent so many nights up like that. There are always seems to be a few clueless skippers that end up in trouble
