Can't pinpoint why but I would call this the best ep so far. Great job yall looking forward to the next one!
My biggest mistake was getting a little buzz on and watching videos on ships in concept but on sale.
Everyone says CIG should have done this, I would hate to be CIG with everyone second guessing them.
100% agree with the comments around some ships, like the Mole. Who the heck has its mining turrets that require a suit even though you are in a ship, not pressurised or protected. Look at the arrastra, mining bridge/command module where you can remote mine from.
Regardless of how new ships look etc and their listed functionality (cause every ship will get improved at gold pass), SCU capacity etc, I do think CIG has nailed it with ship manufacturers, because some people just hate drake style and will use the liberator or c2s, some will use drake because they love the aesthetic or will live with it for the price to functionality. There is no just 1 meta, and as they improve flying physics and the need for crews, maintenance and components, it’ll be an ever changing state. We still have no in game understanding of how effective armour will be etc and weight
C2 will have 10x better atmospheric flight ✈️😊
The firebird NEEDED the missile increase. 12 wasn't enough especially if some of them fail, and component locking isn't very intuitive. If they can help fix the component locking, it might not have needed that many. But you definitely run out and have to reload before doing anything substantial in a fight.
Name and shame all the duppers.
Thanks for the chapters.
What does Sunset ships mean?
In my mind I always thought CIG said the Mk1 was going to be a reward for completing SQ42?
27:45 "you don't want your ship made now, because that is how you get a starfarer", i completely disagree with this sentiment– with a starfarer, you get to play th crappy version for years- and then they will rework to make the great one soon. The other ships that don't get made– years and years will go by, and then this game will get shut down and you will NEVER get to fly them.
I'd rather get to fly the crappy one now, and the excellent rework later… instead of never play it.
32:27 hey mike, at current size, the liberator can carry 18 tonks on the outside pads, and another 12 inside– go count them on the spectrum "Liberator: what fits" thread. so that's 30 total
The Firebird needs more than just an additional 12 missiles. Even with only 12 missiles, the guns run out of ammo before you can take down even a small number of enemy fighters. The additional missiles will help, but the guns need much more ammo.
Will the devs take mass into account when setting up the flight model for the Ironclad. Full: slow and cumbersome. Empty: with those massive thrusters, this ship should accelerate quickly, for it's size. As should all empty Hull series; because… physics. BTW: The Ironclad Assault variant, in the Concierge, pledge sales photo clearly has tractor-beams, which means the roof should open as well.
im not spending anymore money till i have my Railen
The F7A Mk 1 is going to be given for free to every character that completes SQ 42 then musters out. 100% that's how you're going to get it in game.
2:18 "CIG is not a video content company"… not true– CIG created the optional subcsription that raises over $3 million every year, to ONLY make videos, none of that money goes to making the game. it is only for their VIDEO CONTENT CREATION BRANCH of the company. And back in the day when they were making much less money, they easily made multiple shows every week. There is no excuse why they could not continue to do that today.
I love how they say that they put this new server recovery mechanic in, but I still get a 30k and I still lose my stuff that I was transporting from planet to station. Requesting a repair is a joke compared to the old tool we had for fixing your player and account. They're too busy worrying about showing us new jpeg's to throw our wallets at.
Ive struggled to make barely 300k through bounty and bunker missions. Every other mission type has been bugged.
Id hate to see a wipe so early, especially if the more lucrative missions spawn “civilian” versions of their targets.
+1 Space Cutlet Episode.
With Retaliator – on launch I recall there was something about limiting the size of the waist turret guns because they would clip into the hull on certain orientations. Evidently they either fixed this and forgot to upgrade the mounts, or just decided it didn't matter so much?
more view than subs?? why dont you guys just subscribe!! youre already here nerd you arent better than us lolol.
C2 and M2 are IN GAME – of course they cost more. Wait till the IC drops, the prices will be much higher then.
Salty Mike you sound like a Child Listen to this you can not say its Assualt ship if you have everything the base version have Roof an tractor beams plus 1152 scu plus more guns more Armor WTf do you need the base one for if you have it all on the other one ??????
Try to think just alittle over this i ams sying here 1536 vs Assualt 1152 scu plus it can more an the same stats that will be base killer for the cargo one.
are you not the man of Reason on your channal just asking here for you must be able to see this ship is build for an attack fleet on the ground not for pure cargo.
if they do make the changes to components and make the better components lootable only, we are going to NEED a player to player marketplace, whatever form that takes, but you really should be able to search for what you want and fiind out who and where has it, even if you have to meet that player ingame to get it. regarding the F7, it doesn't need to be meta, or better than an mk2, maybe it should be a reward after doing X amount of missions for Y faction and just be an upgrade for players to just have a cutter or aurora.
I don't see the Ironclad as negating any ships, because there are no other ships around this SCU total (1500), never mind the other differences. It was designed to be a step between 696 SCU (C2) and 4000 SCU (Hull C), something that was desperately needed, especially once the economy is in a balanced state and ship prices mean you cant just upgrade to a new hull every couple of days with in-game currency.
If this game is actually every going to get a 1.0 release and survive more than a couple weeks of initial hype, there needs to be clear, logical progression from one tier to the next in all of the professions, where you actually spend a SERIOUS amount of time in each tier of ship before you can even possibly afford the next tier, and it shouldn't make economical sense to wait and try to jump a tier (i.e. using a light tier ship to earn enough to buy a heavy tier ship, like going from a vulture to a reclaimer).
This could look something like "light, medium, heavy, extra heavy, titanic, colossal" Something like that, with some range of variation within each main tier.
For cargo: Light being something like 2-32 SCU, medium being 32-174 SCU, heavy being like 174-696 SCU, Extra Heavy being like 696-2000 SCU, and titanic being anything 2000-4000 SCU, and colossal being anything 4000+. Something like that… I love the idea of even progressing through a few ships in each tier before being able to move onto the next one. I want something to work towards that I know is FAR FAR FAR out of my grasp for a very long time. The scale of cost of things needs to really be exponential, I still feel it is far too linear. Taking examples of ship prices right now like the difference between a smaller ship and an 890 just doesn't seem great enough. Even with today's earth based technology and costs, an F16 for example is about 65 million $ and an aircraft carrier is like 13 billion $ (200 X more expensive). Now compared to the Space shuttle (a relatively tiny space vessel designed only for low earth orbit) costed around 50 billion in today's money. Now imagine that on an actual spacefaring scale 900 years in the future.
I also think that each tier of ship should be locked behind reputation walls the same way missions are, so even at release, the pay to win element is greatly diminished in that people would still have to grind rep in each tier to ever use their 2000$ whale boats, and not destroy the economy in a week using colossal tier industrial ships while everyone else is stuck in light tier ships. From a lore standpoint it makes sense as well, you wouldn't be a rookie anything just jumping into the most massive version of that industry's ship type on day 1 would you? You don't just start off commanding an aircraft carrier in the navy. The benefit for the whales of course would still be that they could save their earned in-game currency for something else, while others would have to save up a ton of in-game scratch, potentially even as an organization to be able to afford some of those colossal ships. This way no matter how someone "buys" a large ship, real money or in-game currency, it can still be considered a proper achievement to own and operate one by the community. This will be good for the game, and good for everyone.
“Ship sale drama” is probably the most used phrase in the titles of star citizen related content.
wait so the reason the mk1 hornet i bought last patch disappeared, was cause they are "removing" it basically lmao?
I realize more and more, that my taste of wich ships look cool differs so much from the majoritiy of SC Players.
My thoughts. They did not have to sunset and nerf the mk1s. All they had to do was make the mk2s different enough that for the extra money it could be a good option. But no. They scared people into buying the mk1s with that "last chance at current price", after they got some sales they announce "last chance before removed from shops." Now they are in the process of nerfing the mk1 into the ground so they are not a combat option even when compared to their previous stats. Erkul is already reporting the ghost has not only lost all its stealth but has also had its signature increased. I wonder if they are going to do the same thing to the caterpillar when the ironclad releases.
I want my kraken
In my opinion they should be raising the amount of rewards we are getting for missions cuz I think a lot of people are struggling to get money in game
With the changes and reduction of inventory volumes on even the largest of ships, resulting in an inability to move all your items off your starting location to the orbital stations I’m ready for a wipe. Having to move house each patch with all the armour, weapons, components and sundry collected over time is simply onerous and time-consuming and simply not fun. So please GIG give us a wipe to clear the clutter or develop some sort of functionality or app or even an in lore Covalex contract within the mobiglas to transfer inventories to other locations even if that process takes 24 hours to complete.
Tbh idk, I did my Vaughn missions, did some piracy, raided some DCs and ignored the dupe bug. Not all did abuse it. Still I vote for a wipe, although I worked for no money in that case. Would love if the YouTubers who spreader the abuse with guides would receive some serious words from cig tho
