this shows how strong Thorfinn actually is. he stops Canute and proved that hes the better man. Canute silently admires Thorfinn hoping one day their dreams when they were young happen. guess what? it did happen (present time)
The romantic thing about this is that Canute was blindly kind before while now he is the strategically malevolent.
Thorfinn was blindly cruel before while now standing as enlightened compassion.
Edit:
Both aren’t where their Stories began anymore but they also didn’t end up where the other one began. Which makes full sense when compared to real life.
The breath of relief Canute lets out when talking about gaining a new ally. He must have been suffocating in his own head with worry and stress. After all this time, it must have felt good to lean on/trust someone else for a change.
The second season was such a massive departure from the first in many aspects except quality writing. It is nothing like the first season and yet makes so much sense for the characters we were introduced to. Stories like this are a rare thing.
Thorfinn represents all the farmers and subjects of Canutes Kingdom who warns Canute with his option of exiting the kingdom. Exit was always a bad thing for a kingdom.
I know it would have been pointless, especially as Thorfinn already demonstrated how far he was willing to go during the “fight” with Drott and he would have just been killed. But I would love an alternate scene where Thorfinn pulls two daggers out and starts going ham on everyone. Everyone is scared sh!tless and struggles to take him out. They do in the end but they lose a bunch of guys. They realize they can no longer do anything and retreat
thats why vinland is godlike story .. sure it couldve been insanely violent and nice .. but this shows us how we should all act .. f wars .. in the end .. nobody wins but those in power ..
Canute's enemies from then on used neighboring farms to hide and move troops, supplies, and intel. As well as expand their own territory. Ultimately leading to canute's fall. Morale of the story, don't give up resources in exchange for nothing. Find an alternative, make peace with the locals and impose reasonable taxes, while fortifying your expansion. Season 2 was a joke, and really undermined human cruelty.
It's real hard for me to decide whether s2 Canute is a good person or a bad guy ,to me he's a total physique 😠😡🤬i just can't appreciate him for some reason 😤i don't know it's just i can't do that at all 😔
Well, yeah, and history repeats itself today but- really, nobody is born with desire of conquest. Most people seek to live peacefully. People are born without enemies.

I wonder if both of them had anytime held hands like very close comrades.

No matter what people say this one is the best to me
I like muffins and if you know what the game is…. Well I lost the game.

"You've become rather eloquent. Who did you take after?"…Askeladd and Thors, but when saying a harsh truth in a smartass way thats Askeladd
Son of thors doesnt need shit to bargain his words carry alot of weight a Canute really scared of thornfin
The payoff of this episode from everything season 2 had been building on…I honestly cried for thorfinns success. One of the best shows ever made
I love how from the looks he gave them even his own men thought Canute was being tasteless in laughing
To think Canute and Throfinn were just one behelit and one love triangle away from creating a unique European North American based eclipse

"Who did you take after?" I hopes its askeladd .. im sorry but we barely knew Thors, even if a great man he was
"The uprising people expected never occurred…"
