Yeah Vash doesn’t need to eat either I think Caleb may have misunderstood that
Vash eats just to enjoy it or maybe he wanted to mimic the humans around him at first
if you notice, vash's hair is full blonde and then progressively gets darker each time he helps a plant, so he's likely giving them his own energy/life in order for them to heal.
The Plants are clearly extra-dimensional or w/e, since they can pull out energy from "nowhere", which goes against basic physics. I assume they were prolly accidentally created by someone or found by someone by accident (I think the latter would make most sense, since they have to resort to cell cloning instead of generating units from scratch), but they can barely survive in 3D in highly monitored & controlled environments that are 100% sealed for isolation

I'm so happy you guys are reacting to Trigun! Vash is such an awesome character I love how he's essentially a healer and that kind of compassionate thread follows his storyline (and causes him lots of pain in certain ways).
Vash doesn’t produce anything because he has this gate. He is like a wire/cord/line, he connects to other stuff. And (since we speaking about big scale here) stuff can come through it. Therefore ofc he doesn’t have to produce things because he brings it to this reality from another dimension thx to his gate. I assume the plants need some kind of energy that they get through Vashs gate. It just connect to some higher plane were they get higher vibrating (?) energy to substation them.
And I am sure many plants also miss their brethren and he calms them simply through his presence as well
It´s not that „in your face“ like Vashs show of power with him helping the plants, but we can see Nai producing things before: the clothes he wears and the knives. He produces certain materials (fabric and metal?)
