After these latest rumored changes to the American Express Gold card, I’m questioning if AMEX is getting too ridiculous for many consumers. The high annual fees, monthly credits, and having to shop where you’re told instead of where you want is becoming a headache. Even with all of this, there can still be good reasons to apply for the Gold card or any other American Express card.

yeah probably gonna cancel if i don’t get a great retention offer. thankfully just paid my AF in april but the resy credit to bump up the AF is horrible. i could mayyyybe use the dunkin credits but im tired of the coupons!

My AF for the Gold hits in Jan so I’ll milk the benefits until then and cancel. Savor will get more use. Thinking about trying to get some CCC’s. All I know is, Gold ain’t staying. I will get the new design though before I cancel 😂

This is a huge set back for the gold card if true just in my opinion……it truly is over as one of the best cards on the market, I put savor one above. Depending on the bonus even the freedom flex no af make more sense…..I don't care about the white gold color as much. the benifts are getting worse while fee going up. Dunkan has the worse food……stuff sitting under a lamp all day turning into something thats alive & straight out of a "are you afraid of the dark" episode. If you care about what goes into your body avoid dunkin like the plauge…..krispy kream would have been better but thats too much like right.
I like AMEX but the couponing is getting to be a bit much. Glad I already dropped the Gold earlier this year. Thanks for the info + video!
That resy credit is bad for the card that’s what I don’t like.
If I got the card, I would probably only use the Dunkin credit 2x a year. Complete pass for me.
I’m actually interested in these new coupons! 😂 the old setup made zero sense for me. But i could easily get more value with the Resy credit once or twice a year, the Dunkin credit (we have one in town) and 5 guys easy!
I would have expected this being a bad overall change but for me personally im not that upset. Ill give it a shot regardless bc im dropping the BCP for BCE, ill find a 90k offer and keep it for at least a one year trial run
Amex knows how to make a good looking “limited edition card” between the white gold and the 747 Delta cards. Which since I use Apple Pay as much as possible a “good looking card” doesn’t do it for me 😂. On a side note, didn’t know you lived in Phoenix! Me and the wife went to the Grand Canyon back in March and we flew into Phoenix. We were both amazed at how amazing Arizona looks. Coming from Louisiana we’re not used to the kind of view Arizona gives! We were also shocked how cold it was in northern Arizona! Stupidly we didn’t research the weather before going and just assumed Arizona was hot all over. Never making that mistake again 😂
Thank you, for this excellent comment video. Back in the 1980's when, I owned the American Express Gold card the annual fee was around $75. Over the past 25-years, I have owned a small business American Express card that, they no longer offer. While, the color of this card is "Silver", it is not the "Platinum" card because, it has zero annual fees and a credit limit to permit you to pay, your balance back over time. My current American Express card is a "Plum" business card and, by using its monthly 1.5 percent statement credits, I should be able to lower my out of pocket cost of this card's annual fee from $250 down to around $70 (smile … smile).

I will be canceling my Gold in September when annual fee hits. I will be keep only the BBP to keep my MR pts alive. No other cards interest me with Amex.
The changes to the Amex Gold card can be good or bad depending on the cardholder. I don't have the Gold card yet. Someday, I plan to get it mainly for the welcome offer, but as far as holding it long term, I'm not sure. Sometimes I use GrubHub, but have never used UberEats and have only used Uber for rides a few times. There are several Dunkin' locations near me in Central PA, but I don't really go to Dunkin'. There is only one Resy restaurant in my area which I have never been to. With all the changes that Amex is making across their cards, they are less and less appealing to me. The only cards I.could clearly see myself holding long-term would be co-branded cards (like the Hilton cards) and no-annual fee non co-branded cards (like the Blue Cash Everyday or Blue Business Plus).

I agree with you… chasing those monthly credits are exhaustive.
While it may not be suitable for you, many others find the card worthwhile.
