The parallels to Trigun and Noragami in the episode directing are really cool, incredible that you noticed them. Haven't heard of noragami in along time too, im wondering if there's ever going to be a season 3 XD That aside, the first ep looked amazing. I love how Vash's Coat flows (flutters??) While trying to catch up to the bullet, all the smoke and sand flying around during the duell, how the colors and character models look.. really eye catching.
I hope they add clips of the episode to the OP just like the OG anime, that's how I saw the clips of this episode placed in the end atleast, thinking they would play around with that. Would be really cool
I'm trying SO HARD to like Stampede. It's very pretty but I'm not sold on the writing so far. Also they changed the caliber of Vash's revolver to 22 instead of 45 Long and it has nearly ruined it for me because 1: It's nowhere near as cool because beeg boolet 2: Whenever he does any kind of trickshot or something like he did ep1 with that rock it takes me out because I know a 22 round would just disintegrate on contact without really doing anything to the rock. At least 45 long is big enough for me to keep my suspension of disbelief. I hope I only goes up from here…
Honestly…idk how I feel. I'm leaning towards not good but I won't make any actual judgement until I've seen it. I know it's a decades old anime but this doesn't look like Trigun to me. Trigun was badass…different…punk rock. But hey I could be proven totally wrong which I hope ends up being the case.
Don't have any nostalgia for the original but the only real complaints I could understand is the art style and the pacing for this episode. I liked the opening cause it looked really cool but Idk if we needed that or the general Vash background for this episode at all. Definitely went "hey this is what we're doing this season"
I can't bring myself to like it. Maybe it's gonna be good but I've never been a fan of reboots. Good things should be left alone occasionally a reboot can give something dated new life which is great but Trigun isn't really dated but that's just my opinion I probably won't give it a chance sadly.
I liked the episode, but it was definitely more "generic" by the numbers storytelling. At least up until the "I need bullets" stuff which was pretty well done. Meryl's design sucks though imo, I really enjoyed her look in Trigun, and this one looks and feels too modern. Overall, it's solid and the CG actually looks good.
Honestly was really interested in the series going forward. I understand the OG is suppose to be a GOAT series but let's look at the flaws; takes 23ish episodes to establish Knives, vash just kinda travels around, there's no real map for establishing where things are. Plants aren't well explained and the gun ho guns are just… there??? My issue with ep 1 is exposition. They capture vash character nicely. Meryl is toned down from super aggressive Misty from pokemon kinda behavior but still has a 'I can do more than you' vibe without beating the shit outta someone. Episode 1 was ok, not as strong as the OG but they get things out of the way with a plot the first time viewers understand. Vash is looking for his brother, a murderer, a monster. Plants are what's keeping humans alive and the tech we see from the flashbacks to now it establishes Vash is very old if the tech he has be considered lost. I'm hopeful for the series because the OG was terribly rushed between switching publishers in between anime runtime. I just hope we see vash GET his iconic hair and also….. Milly, I'll miss her 🙁
Aside from everything else, just the design wise, I loved Vash the moment I saw him in this anime. My man still has the style even after soo many years. Its been a while, how have you been?
I find it strange and sad that they killed Rem for no reason on the reboot. She died getting everyone else to safety in the og. In this one, she just stands there and blows up

Yuji kaneko's background art palette is something of a telling sign that has equally shared the role in rendering this "Wasteland of whimsies"

Vash’s redesign isn’t even that bad, it’s like an MCU costume- the original is still iconic but the new design is a fresh new spin on it.
