Hello fellow warriors! we are on episode 4 of Vinland Saga, and man did this episode really bring the heat! The way we get to see Thorfinns struggle right now is so well done. A kid who has only seen war and bloodshed and who has taken life after life, what would they be like 12 years later? And Yukimura has a gift for showing us the realities of war and PTSD. Hebi has caught my eye! He is someone I really want to know more about. Him showing Thorfinn he actually does want to live was such an amazing moment. And Pater is wonderful! If only we all could have good people like that in our corner. It is therapy time again, I like to use these moments in my reactions to talk about the hard and uncomfortable things but the necessary things. I hope you all stick around for this discussion and I hope it can be of any help in continuing your path to becoming a true warrior.

Just a side note I decided I’ll watch the anime episodes blind and then read the manga chapter afterwards. I will be practicing my discipline with this lol ❤ I can’t wait to get to know Hebi more and I am fascinated by Pater! He’s kind and calm but I have a feeling he knows his way around a blade
Imon the person that appears at the end of Vinland Saga 2×4 episode is Canute.
Thorfinn's PTSD dreams of him being a child, the chapter of his life which (in his mind) took away everything from him and shaped his traumatic fate… I think it is an accurate representation of what real trauma is like. Being stuck and your brain being stopped from developing. Exactly what you were talking about in your last post-episode discussion. Ymir or Eren from AOT, them being stuck due to their trauma and not being able to move on…. it's heartbreaking. I am always crying with you and I don't wanna dump my own past but I have experienced a lot of trauma which took god knows how long to overcome (although I still struggle sometimes) but I feel like I have moved on. Thank you for your thoughts. I love hearing them.
As many others have already commented, I'd also recommend going into the weekly episodes blind and then reading up after having seen them. I prefer the manga's way of storytelling over the anime's overreliance on flashbacks and forced emotional moments like the whole character instruction of Einar from episode one, which the author handles more tastefully in the source material. While I appreciate that the director's trying to expand on many scenes by adding completely original elements, many of these changes lack all the nuance and interpretability of its counterpart. Though the beautiful, in many instances atmospheric, soundtrack by Yutaka Yamada adds to it, enriching my viewing experience. What's your take on the differences between the two so far?
I really don’t know where to start but all i can say is that this episode, might one of the best in the series. What a masterpiece and i always look forward to your reactions because i know how much you admire this show, which makes it even better watching those.
11:49 The old woman that Thorfinn kills in the dream is the one from episode 6 that took him in and helped him when he was wounded, but he still ended up giving the signal for Askeladd’s band to come and raid her village.
I don't want your videos to be end this quickly althought 28 minutes is still a lot. Your speech relaxes me and makes me think and appreciate about life while doing my work and studies. I didn't stick with this channel consistently since you took rest for some time though I'm glad you're back in action and sharing your appreciation towards life by accepting simple things. Keep going strong 🥰!
Imon, Isayama (author of Attack on Titan) and Yukimura (author of Vinland Saga) are friends in real life ! It makes sense where both stories are directed. Incredible stuff.
You are an amazing reactor!
If season 4 of AoT rubbed you the wrong way because a small but annoyingly vocal part of the fanbase made you think that Isayama intended you to see Floch as Erwin's successor and Eren as a hero, don't, because he didn't. Floch only ever saw the fiery, motivational speech-giving persona that Erwin used to lead people, he never actually knew him at all as a person. Floch superficially mimics Erwin's grandiose style of rhetoric, because that's all he knew of him. Levi and Hange are the people who actually knew Erwin.
As annoying as they are, the fact that a portion of the fans fully support the Jeagerists are a testament to the strength of Isayama's writing. No one watches the original Star Wars trilogy and roots for the empire, because they're just generic bad guys with nothing to relate to. However, the Jeagerists? Guys taken in by the easy self-righteous, self-gratifying (and ultimately self-destructive) allure of militant hyper-nationalism? There are real people like that everywhere! So, even positioned in the story as antagonists, those people will support them because they're exactly like them.
When the author put eren in a corner where he must choose some form of genocide, it makes any message regarding him doing immoral actions fall flat. It just makes him a scapegoat for the plot
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I will watch the Episode on Saturday and this will be the first reaction I will check out. Already know Manga so it´s ok for me to wait but already super excited to watch this video. ❤
Last dudevwas canute
I always remember in the old lady scene of Season 1 how kid Thorffin takes a deep breath, suppress it and go dead eyes.
It's good stuff.
Ofc it's a contemporary projection to the past but that does not take the maturity of the message of the story.
It is a step further, art-wave concerned.
Just curious, can I ask which subs/site you're using? Some of the translations seem a little off, or don't really convey what they need to imo. They're totally serviceable, just maybe not the best ones available. I understand if this source is the most convenient for you to access though
It's clear to me now that Einar, wants to live for the sake of his family… like he owes it to them to live on and having freedom be such a possibility he's fueled by that, but Thorfinn was chopping down trees aimlessly and now that he wants to live… he can find another purpose as he chops/navigates the forest.
That anime original nightmare sequence was just phenomenal. Bringing back the old lady from episode 6 was a beautiful touch
Ouuu what type of mic is that?
I already read the Manga, and I am very anxious for what is yet to come
They are not battles or fights, but moments of reflection and overcoming that move me even today, moments that made me cry, but moved me. There are hope guys 🥲
Good reaction, I really hope to see more videos from his, especially from Vinland Saga, this masterpiece
Hi from Brazil 👋
Even though the tone this season is different from season 1. It’s crazy how the beginning of this season structure is set up the same way season 1 was. Both seasons first 3 episodes start off kinda slow. Not saying they’re bad but I can understand how it takes a while for some people to get into it. But like season 1 if the first 3 episodes didn’t sell you on the show then the fourth one will hit for sure. I love that!
I have seen people do manga reactions by reading it digitally and just scrolling through it for the video.
Believe or not Imon, there are folks out there who can be born bad.
The scene with Einar and Thorfinn was different here in the anime than it was in the manga. Einar never chocked Thorfinn. He may have had the intention to hurt him but nothing came from it. Instead he sees Thorfinn struggling with a nightmare again and he wakes him up. What follows is dialogue that serves to strengthen their bond as friends. Most of that dialogue is omitted in the episode.
The author of the manga, Yukimura, did tweet that he liked the direction of the episode and named Einar in particular. Perhaps this was something he wanted to do upon further reflection or maybe he just generally liked the change. I have mixed feelings about it but I'm willing to see what the anime will do with it in future episodes. Apart from that this episode was fantastic. Thorfinn is on the journey to discover what his reason to live is.
Thorfin is such a tragic character. Saw his father murdered in front of his eyes when he was just a tiny lil kid.
Got torn away from his family. Fueled purely by his rage and sense for revenge.
Got used as a tool of a murder for most of his life… his end game was to kill Askeladd and avenge his father and he had this goal taken away from him.
With Askeladd dead, he is just an emotionally and probably mentally underdeveloped/stunted broken human with no purpose in life.
I absolutely loved this episode and I'm really loving Einar! Him trying to help Thorfinn and teaching him things… he has a big heart and I can't wait to see their friendship this season. Also, I get emotional every time I watch the ending. The lyrics and seeing Thorfinn crying out and Einar being there… man that just gets to me each time
I mean erwin is a good leader, but comparing him to thors is weird in my opinion. Thors didnt want anyone to die, while erwin was sending soldiers to their deaths for his own selfish desire to confirm his father theory. ( he even admitted that he did it for himself) His first selfless act was his sacrifice of his arm in season 2 and after that his death in season 3. Great character but not a true warrior by vinland saga standard. I would compare him more to askelladd. Both used people to reach their goal (wich did benefit the greater good, but was primarily for their own dream) Thors is more like king fritz. Both denounced violence at all cost. The difference is that Thors prioritized his loved ones and wasnt as rigid in his belief while King Fritz would have sacrificed his own people for his ideal.
I think reading the manga is a great idea. Not only for the art but for the story. And to get ahead…. I’m on volume 11 and I can’t wait to see how they handle some stuff in the future
You should watch on crunchyroll the subs on ur video is totally wrong sometimes
agreed with you on AOT once Erwin die it went down hill.
I dont think this was sad apisode so i dont understand why everybody crying watching this 😒
I completely forgot this anime changes a lot of things from the manga but always in a way to make it better.
This show is so amazing
I cried each episode
Its really beautiful 😢
Vinland Saga is a beautiful tale of finding yourself, your place in the world, your purpose in life. And I think that Thorfinn's journey through finding those things is wonderfully written and drawn by Yukimira, and now beautifully depicted by the anime as well, and it is something that everyone can learn from. It's truly art
Snake has the same voice actor of polnareff
What is the music used during the review ?
Him seeing that old woman that helped him again really crushed me. That was a real turning point for him I feel. He was helped by her and even told them to run away before signaling askaladd. But watched them die and just had to let it go right there and then.
