Oh man…. we're finally in proper Farmland Saga now. This gonna be exciting moving on.
God I absolutely loved this episode.
Einar getting Thorfinn to open up more and more by just being himself. And he IS right, Thorfinn kinda is like an overgrown baby, so I’m glad he plays the role of the big brother that he absolutely needs right now.
The stuff Einar does feels like sht I would do, and it’s SO much fun to see.
Snake and Sverkel‘s dynamic is the best, that little bit of „you’ll miss me when I’m gone“ had me almost on the floor. I definitely think I disturbed my neighbors with how much I laughed there xD
There were some great shots in this episode too, but the one that takes the cake is when Thorfinn stood still and looked over the fields and the camera panned behind them showing Einar still walking and him standing still. Beautiful stuff that almost brought a tear to my eyes, and the ending played and the tears DID come to my eyes xD
Today's was a more laid-back episode but they treated us with some stunning sky and weather shots. That scene before the rain came actually made me feel like it was about to rain.
Next couple episodes are gonna be great and we're gonna get a goated one soon…

Yep, definitely closer into the best scenes of the Farmland Arc. This is coming from someone who’s up to date with the manga.

Also one thing I love is the "Too much wealth brings misfortune" is a lesson that truly sicks with Thorfinn. He referenced that very line in the latest chapter in relation to his own goals
Crazy how different this series is to the first season. Almost feels like an entirely different anime!

Truely wise man….also his lessons are quite smart…a person who don't work for his food, and chores for a horse, the elderly has morals and teachings and yet sadly the next generation is mistreating and ignoring them altogether even after all they gave themselves for us! The elderly veterans and our grandparents are deserving the love and respect that they should received, i miss my grandparents they taught so much good morals and i must do my best to honor thier memories!
There’s just something so warm about this season and I love it
Being frugal with your wealth and living within your means. A life lesson as important now as it was 1000 years ago in the time of Vinland Saga and as it will be 1000 years from now…well unless money and wealth have no meaning by then and class divisions don't exist I guess 😅
Its like taking a step back for a moment in time, and realizing that
too many things happened all too quickly, only to realize that too many things really
passed you by, not knowing until now that it could have been too late to get back
what was lost, while living in darkness.
You may say that either you can call it reflections, illuminations, or even realizations, that
too many things have already passed by, regardless if its good nor not. The question would be to ask yourself is,
"Are you able to get back what was lost in the past, and bring it forth into the present, and eventually into your unknown future?"
Who knows??
What we do learn is that you have a child that grew up way too quickly, through anger, revenge, and battle.
Now that its over, what do you do next, considering how lost of a child he grew into, as he slowly becomes an adult?
With no guidance nor pathway to follow, you may probably say that its nearly impossible, unless some form of revelation has been achieved.
But luckily for Thorfin, he found a very small path in the form of Einar, and eventually the grandfather of the land himself.
Funny how things can lead to somewhere, especially when you don't even know where to go at first.
Let us see where the path takes us from here.

Thorfinn is slowly going to start understanding why his father was the way he was. I think the realisation process is going to be beautiful to see .

"Vinland Saga" season 2 will weed-out the people who only watched season 1 for nonstop, gratuitous violence.
I don't want these peaceful times to end. Seeing Thorfinn and Einar being best bros is so nice and best grandpa casually uses his old age and wisdom to make them do his choirs so they could get a horse to move those tree trunks goddamn would that be hard to move even with 5 people let alone 2.
They finally got to start on their farm thanks to the old man and now they are on their way to earning their freedom.
I am concerned with the old man if he dies while they're working still, it could go bad again really quickly but we shall see. Snake and the geezer have a good bond and I'm looking forward to seeing more Snake.
War is definitely on its way over to them. It may not be in this cour but I'm totally expecting at some point what the old man is predicting that even if they offer something as payment, it may not be enough as with Kanute from last episode.
Anyway, at least I'm glad that Vinland Saga won't get delayed like every other anime is being hit this season. Hopefully we can have a good 24 episode run if that is the count for this season without the production issues that other committees gave to other studios.
Fantastic episode and I'm now very happy for Thorfinn that he made his first friend. He needs it more than ever.

Even though they aren't related . I'd agrue both Thorfinn and Einar are already brothers. Not just friends but family. A family bond.
Throughout the entire conversation between Snake, Sverkel, Einnar and Thorfinn, the only noise besides their voices was the rain in the background. Right up until when Sverkel said "Because of King Harald's influence" It cuts off to the frame that puts into perspective the amount of tribute paid with no background noise, then cuts back with Sverkel saying "Because the king accepts his tribute, he's obligated to protect Ketil." the rain comes back and some super eerie music starts with his next line "It's foolishness". The eerie music keeps going for the rest of that conversation talking about the things that could happen until Snake changes the mood, points out the rain stopped, and the music stops abruptly with it… Goddamnit I love this anime but holy shit am I scared for our boys

The time skips caught me off guard a bit but in general I loved the episode and was excited seeing our bros make progress on the field…
This episode was basically farming is fun. It’s good to see them get rewarded for hard work. I don’t think the grandpa will last. It’s good to see Thorfinn have a legit friend and understand farming. Farming and making something is often an activity done after battle or revenge in many stories. Thorfinn often got scars from his battles. The studio actually posted a short called episode 6.5 on the MAPPA channel which is a good way to look into Thorfinn’s psyche. While some slaves are released after working the farm, it does seem like they still are not respected and the master tasked them with something difficult or impossible. Also this episode shows how conflict was avoided through bribery in the past but then last episode we see how Canute won’t tolerate bribes and he wants complete loyalty. There’s only calm for a bit. Also I do think that something might set off or anger Ketil at some point where he’s no longer nice or he’s not as nice as he seems. Maybe if grandpa dies or something. Ketil is using them for free labour doing hard and difficult tasks that I’m sure he can’t or won’t perform
Every time I remind myself it’s Monday for Vinland Saga, I’m always hyped to dive into the next episode!
I never actually considered that Thorfinn fighting for all of his adolescent life actually made it so that he doesn't really know a lot of things that are considered basic knowledge for others. Glad he's getting some semblance of peace
Not a manga reader, but I hope we get to see Thorfinn reunite with his mom and sister someday.
