That Jordan Peterson quote encapsulates the latter half of the episode really well, in regards to why we need people with the capacity to do harm and it also reminded me of 2 other things he talked about too. First was I think he quoted someone that "it's better to be a warrior in a garden than a gardener in a war" and another time he explained how the underlying threat people pose is what prevents them from being taken advantage of. I remember being very confused when I found out about the sheer military might including nuclear weapons many countries both openly and proudly admit to having, thinking about it now tho it sort of makes sense why we still need big armies and devastating weapons. The only way countries can maintain peace without any given country taking advantage is to showcase they have the capacity to do harm. I feel like something similar on a much smaller scale applies here, in order to prevent stealing the leader needs to show he has the capacity to punish that way he can drastically reduce the amount of times he actually has to go out and punish people.

I like how this episode shows the reality of the time period.
Showing weakness in those times especially when you're in a position of power would encourage others to take advantage of you or even overthrow you. Ketil might have compassion in his heart but he knows showing it will lead to his downfall.
