Personally for me Ritsuka is slowly turning into a character of his own with only a little more push, since up to the lostbelt as of right now, we can see him making hard decision, what he needs is inner thoughts, since spoilers in losbelt 6 there was a scene where Ritsuka has an inner monolouge and we can finally see his inner dialogue and that moment is hailed as one of the best moments in fgo by many of the fans, though ritsuka really only shines when nasu is the one writing him
I dont hate Ritsuka, but its honestly hard to be invested in a character that has been a cardboard cutout for most of the story
Thing with Ritsuka is that they're not a character, lol
The main writer has literally said, they're meant to represent the player
The main voice actor for Ritsuka in the anime too, he's said every player has their own "Ritsuka".
It's just some silly fanboys who think Ritsuka is something he's not.
So they're hating themselves huh… Its the players who builds gudao/fujimaru's character in the story base from the choices they make. It's doesn't have anything to do of whether it has or has no effect in the story but about what kind of character the player/s want to portray. Mine was someone with a strong sense of justice, a bit goofy at times, and overprotective of mash going by the choices I choose in the story.
