This is great. A couple of interesting parallels between this and the other anime you just reacted to, Spy Classroom. The VA for Usui in this is also the VA for Klaus in Spy Classroom. This is written by Gen Urobuchi and Spy Classroom features Yuuki Aoi, the VA of Madoka from Madoka Magica. And they both they both air at the same time so I have to decide which to watch first.
I like it!!! Presentation, animation, and the episode's story were really good! However, I need to see at least 1 more episode to understand where it's going.
Will still watch it if there is no overarching story or endgoal, but having one will be good.
I watched this based on your recommendation and agree it’s totally a sleeper. It makes me want to get back to Ghost of Tsushima. Curious to see where it goes.
Biting gold is an old thing. Gold is actually soft enough for humans to be able to bite it and leave marks. In old times people did it usually to check if the gold was real or to mark their money to make sure they are not stolen.
More facts about gold and how Yuen was able to kill like that. Gold is very heavy and sticks like that when it's thin sheet very well. There was a tradition in Venice when on one of the festivals a child was chosen and covered in gold paint completely for the night of the festival. By the dawn the child would die from their skin not being able to "breathe".
Gold basically stuck to his skin and when he tried to breathe, it created a vacuum of sorts which hardened the sheet and suffocated him quickly.
As for the kite it wasn't steel wire. It was an ordinary silk wire covered in salt to make it solid. It was probably soaked in salty water as you can see salt crystals all over the string.
The music in this anime has been great so far.
