17:18 Thorfinn: "SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND"👊🏼🔥👊🏼🔥👊🏼🔥👊🏼🔥👊🏼🔥👊🏼🔥👊🏼🔥👊🏼🔥👊🏼🔥👊🏼🔥👊🏼🔥👊🏼
This is where the slow buildup really starts to pay off. If the show hadn't focussed so much on the hard labour and the bond between Einar and Thorfinn, we would never have been as devastated about the ruined wheat. This show is so good at making us care about the little things, because I was really upset seeing all their hard work go to waste. It felt like a dear friend had been assassinated.
next eps to be masterpiece!
W
"I would punch him." Nice to know Morgan would choose violence in a similar situation 🤣🤣 but I understand. Those retainers are assholes, happy that Thornfinn 👊.
"Are they not allowed to defend themselves as SLAVES?"
OK, let's take a brief moment to think about the question. When have SLAVES ever been allowed to hit non-slaves?
Ah, a non violent decapitation
It was oddly nice to see Thornfinn try to avoid a confrontation and violence. Sure nothing majorly "exciting " has happened yet in this arc, I love the character work that's being done with Thornfinn. Seeing how his trauma and harsh past have affected his mental health. My heart just hurt for the poor lad. But at least he has Einar to help him in some way.
Sam did her homework good job!!! Dani you will be needing extra credit – professor Morgan 😂
👍👍👍👍
I don't see how anyone can think Ketil is some kind of pushover. He's basically the peak of what anyone in that time could aspire to live like, and he built it off the small farm his father never felt like expanding. Not everyone sees value in living that way, sure, but he made decisions and investments, gathered property and power, loaned out land, and gathered workers and families together, like all those parents and kids helping him with the harvest in episode 2, and he pretty much created a community.
He moved up despite his shortcomings without ever turning into someone he didn't want to be. Is he perfect? Obviously not, but the idea that he's somehow failed the farm or his people because he's not assertive in his objections to violence is ridiculous. He's basically a financial and industrial pillar. It's easy to judge him watching one single day of a 40+ year life on the screen, but he can't be waved off as "weak" for one single moment. He's been in charge for so many years, and there's never been some horrible tragedy that ruined the farm because of poor leadership.
Guys check out the "Blue lock"
"why is he so mad" Hes a retainer. Hes basically a sharecropper which is barley half a step above slave. He doesnt own the land, he rents it. And if he doesnt have good harvests, he ends up in debted to ketil and is functionally a slave. Seeing slaves literally do better than you reminds you of how low your position is in this world. This is another effect of when one person is too rich. It creates a social hierarchy that breeds resentment and misery.
Sam said "fragile men" like 5 times. Calm down girl . Then why people get to call other names . I don't see anybody saying weak women or fragile women
20:00 incapacitate
the ketil hate is crazy
This show, IMHHO, is a cornerstone of the fantasy genre across all mediums. Even the most highly recommended books on the r/Fantasy subreddit don't compare. Maybe A Song of Ice and Fire and The First Law series come close, but they still fall short in some respects. Especially at the later installments.
But this story…this story slaps some thick ass by far.
girls looking good….nice reaction next ep gonna be fire
Both decapitate and incapacitate are based off the latin word "capit", meaning "head". So you weren't far off.
I don't know if someone said this but watch episode 6.5 on YouTube. The official mappa channel uploaded it, idk y but it's just 2 minutes and although it has no dialogue at all it was very impactful and is shows what happened prior to this episode although it isn't really necessary
Wheat soap lmao
19:37 disarm? defuse? demobilize? xD
