I expect some people to dislike these kind of episodes with not much action but honestly i love them, give me a good story with good characters and world building and no senseless action and i'm happy.
i must say, MAPPA did a perfect job at animation, so far so good. i hope that they don't have to use the CGI shit in the future, especially for this anime.
16:49, When Thorfinn said he would never be a slave while talking to the slave girl, I feel like it was also intentionally ironic of his current situation at the time, him saying that, while basically being enslaved by his revenge quest for Askeladd and also being a slave to the idea of "honor" that Thorfinn had for Thors which prevented him from just killing Askeladd in his sleep. He said if he was the slave he would just kill his master and run (if i remember correctly), but he couldn't kill Askeladd.
Not a history buff but I think the reason why they kill all villagers is due to the fact they don't want anyone coming to save the village will they stay there

What happened to Einar's sister as terrible as it may sound in that very specific situation is prolly the best outcome she could get and it's extremely horrifying to think about… This will be both heartbreaking and enlightening arc of Vinland so far
Thorfinn is short for a few reasons:
1. This episode takes place in the year 1015 and the average height was smaller.
2. He grew up malnourished as he didn't eat with the others.

It's not niche I'd say. Ofc it's not as well known as demon slayer or aot but it's popular (not as much as it would deserve tho)
I'm so happy you kind of recognized Einar from the ending of season 1! That's not a given since there are reactors out there starting S2 who have forgotten even key plot points about the end of season 1 (and didn't bother to do a quick catch-up). Also great you seem to remember what Thorfinn said to Hordaland (the slave girl from episode 8) about slavedom. I hope you're gonna enjoy this season! 😊

These three series: Berserk, Vagabond & Vinland Saga, embody the true potential of the seinen genre. They are the big 3 of seinen. It's not so niche! I really hope we get a full adaptation of Vinland Saga and maybe… a (good) Berserk and Vagabond anime in the future.
This arc is peak and I hope you will enjoy it. Farmland Saga is a masterpiece.

Such a great first episode, makes you remember how brutal the Vinland world can be. Also already so invested in Einars character. Also hope this does get more popular this season, like you mentioned season 1 was going up against heavy hitters. Another thing that affected its popularity was that it was exclusively on Amazon Prime which put off a lot of people. Just happy that this season is on Crunchyroll and Netflix finally streaming weekly episodes as well.
