Peakland Saga
That thumbnail's fire tho
Man Thorgil is HIM. This episode was fire asf
The lost love canute mention is a callback to season one where the monk told canute about death is love, and love to other person is just selfish or something like that.
i believe it will be floki vs thorgil tbh, he not ready for thorkell with all respect
Gimme that throat…pause lmao good reaction
I don't think we'll see Thorkell, I believe he stayed in england sadly ^^
It would have been interresting to see him witness Thorfinn on the way of becoming a "true warrior" and confront the "real fight"… I wonder what he would have thought of it.
Thorkell is probably in England
Thank you again for your reactions lax. I think you are more than entitled to your opinion and what I am about to say is not trying to invalidate it in anyway but rather just give an alternative interpretation of this episode. I understand your defending of Thorgil but I think Yukimura's message, at least in my understanding of it, is quite different from your takeaways from the episode. Throughout this arc and specifically with Ketil's family, Yukimura tries to illustrate the consequences of toxic masculinity. Olmar has a massive ego, but underneath is deeply insecure about himself, not being the idealised 'man' of his time i.e. his brother, someone who is self sufficient and does not tolerate those disrespecting him or his family and can physically dominate all that challenge him. However I think Yukimura undermines this adoption of masculinity by presenting Thorgil as a brash beast, war hungry and empty, what else does Thorgil have for himself but his lust for war? Nothing. I think Yukimura argues with this event that the 'bravest' and most 'manly' thing to do from Olmar's perspective would be to not bend to societies rigid views of a 'man' like his father Ketil, where in the end you seem to stand for nothing. Or to fight at every given opportunity, and instead have the self assuredness of your own masculine identity to be able to tolerate any berating you get from others, deserved or not, and to avoid violence at all costs, as after all, we have no enemies.
Again I wanna say you are 100% entitled to your own thoughts and I still really enjoy your reactions. Have a good day.
Yeah, lost love from season one. God's love and paradise.
bro i was baked watching this episode and i gotta tell you, i don’t even watch this show for the violence i genuinely love the message. but i’d be lying if i said i wasn’t TURNT UP when thorgil laid them boys to waste
Thorgil's justification is weak. Nobody forced Olmar to answer an insult with violence. If Thorgil was protecting his family, he wouldn't have told Olmar to continue the figh. He lives in that place from Thorfinn's nightmare, and he loves it there.
Thorfinn needs to fight with the Ketil fam now
Thorgil is crazy and he's full of bloodlust, but he did good today
"All for lost love" is a callback to the discussion with the priest about "love", where Canute conclude that true love was the love that is equal for everyone (usually the way we practice love is loving more people than others). So he wants to create an utopia where people can truly love each other instead of killing and stealing, though to create his utopia he's basically conquering all the world through a lot of not so lovely means, and after that, make it a true love society without crime or hate. Short explanation
I like your reactions to the animes im also watching and im always looking forward to them. Keep up the grind my guy!
Just for notice, Thorkell is still in England at the present time
Canute is becoming more like Askeladd because they both gave up on what thought was gonna save them and instead acted on their own. Askellad was waiting for artorius and canute thought god would save them. The lost love canute is talking about is his devotion to god which he lost after he realized god wasnt doing anything to save him or the people the were being killed during the 1st season.
For those who are interested in reading along with the manga, this episode adapted the entirety of chapters 77-78. The next episode appears to be finally adapting the last five pages of chapter 73 and all of chapter 74 along with chapter 79 (since the anime rearranged the original presentation/order of scenes from different settings).
So this is an easy mistake to make, but the coin-guy (likely one of Canute’s espionage men) is not the same person as Wulf. While they have similar hair color and both have facial hair, if you pay close attention you can tell their faces (and voices) are different.
If it wasn’t clear from this episode, Canute’s plan for Olmar originally just involved getting Olmar to maim/kill one of the king’s messengers, and then be killed/captured in turn (in order to create a “justification” for arresting Ketil and seizing his assets). However, as Wulf said, Thorgil intervening and killing the remaining messengers and guards was an unplanned oversight, though now Canute has even more “justification” to arrest a seize the assets of the Ketil family.
Some other bits of trivia: the scene of Einar and Thorfinn plowing and watching the sunset at the end of this episode was an anime original scene.
Also there was a line of Canute’s that’s somewhat important to his characterization that got cut (likely for run-time). Anyways the cut line comes right after Canute asks the haunting head of his father why the latter is laughing, and the cut line Canute follows up with is: “Is the deepening of my sin entertaining to you?”. So if it wasn’t clear from the rest of Canute’s characterization this episode, he is quite self-aware of the immoral qualities of his plans to seize Ketil’s farmland.
These next half of episodes about to go CRAZYY
Bruh everyone thinks the coin dude is wulf, Wulf has giant scars on his face lol
You forgot Snake the man who TRAINED Thorgill is at the farm too 😈
After Canute learned the Philosophy of love from the priest in season 1 (Love means no discrimination to him), he sees that the world is full of men with no love in their hearts, and also sees that God has forsaken them because the trials God has put before them cannot save them, so thats why Canute is doing all of this, he is literally trying to create a world with no discrimination and no war by doing all the tactics with the least amount of blood shed. Which is why he poisoned people and his new belief of love is why he also poisoned his brother.
We though Torgil was going hard when he beat the boy. Now we know he could have split the boy in half with that stick.
One of the few anime's i watch all the way from the opening, to the ending.
I've really enjoyed watching all of your reactions to all of the episodes of Vinland Saga from episode one and really look forward to your reactions to all of the future episodes!
Have you heard of Golden Kamuy? It's another anime that I would really enjoy seeing you react to! Golden Kamuy is a bit different from Vinland Saga, but it's also a seinen and has a bit of violence and drama, but there's so much good humor!
