I had my jaw on the floor the whole time they were fighting in the city, the quality of those tracking shots was absolutely astounding. As somebody who never saw the original i cant comment on a comparison, but i will say in terms of acting and animation this show has been top notch IMO.
I think overall Trigun Stampede is good but I agree how they handled the episodic nature of the show wasn't the best. I'd say between the 2 I prefer Stampede Knives over the Original Knives due to how Stampede developed him as a character. I liked the original Knives but aside from his connection to Vash I think I liked the idea of him in the shadows rather than as an actual character where as in Stampede we get know understand why he does what he does and it's very fascinating and Austin Tindle does a great job at delivering his complex nature. I also liked Zazie(the kid), and Monev a bit more in Stampede as well since they were fleshed out a bit more. P.S. Original Legato over Stampede Legato easily though I wonder if they'll give Stampede Legato his backstory from the manga.
I really enjoyed Trigun Stampede, it can never replace the original Trigun Anime for me but it has been an enjoyable experience throughout.
I especially like some of the new twists on Knives & Vash. Knives being able to self produce energy while Vash is still reliant on external resources for energy sort of helps explain why Knives & Vash have different outlooks on humanity. Also cool that we actually got a version of Knives that utilizes Knives.
