One thing that's interesting to note is each Shatterspace focuses on a different one of Sonic's friends:
New Yoke City, with a little bit of help from The Grim, focuses on Tails; through the perspective of Nine being both the loner that Tails could've ended up becoming without Sonic around, as well as a great show of it never being too late for a "Sonic" to come into play… never too late to have a solid friend who'd support you all the way through.
Boscage Maze is about Amy, and one could argue Rouge as well.
In Amy's case, Thorn Rose is so focused on protecting nature, what she sees as the innocent life to protect, that she doesn't see how her rash actions actually harm it, both by overprotecting it and having the wrong impression that blotting out all the exits help protect it from invasion when in truth the lack of sunlight would be awful for a forest, and by excluding the Scavengers from the community under the impression that they could not be talked to when she hasn't even tried (she passively saw them be ruthless, made a few single attempts, but then gave up and resorted to violence).
On the other hand, we have Prism Rouge, the de-facto leader of the Scavengers, labelling Thorn Rose as merely a monster; committing the grave sin of any leader that is dehumanizing a sentient being that could otherwise be rationalized with. She's consistent with that throughout the whole time…
… which is why Sonic is so desperate to find a middle ground; because, even without prior knowledge of the cast, even the audience can tell both factions are intelligent enough to come to a compromise, but also too stubborn to revoke past hasty judgements.
No Place is very much about Knuckles.
Captain Dread is basically the persona that evokes Knuckles's treasure hunter hobby, but Knux's introverted side shows in Dread just giving up and choosing to simply bask in the moment of life after one traumatic shipwreck accident that prevented him from getting the treasure he sought, making it so he seemingly lost everything; not unlike how the "prime"(/game) Knuckles had lost his entire civilization before he even knew he had them, and thus questions his past during moments of silence, only finding relative periods of peace when finally putting them behind him. And just like game Knuckles, it's the optimism and carefree nature of Sonic that encourages him to not just explore, but finally reach that first goal and put it behind so he can move forward again, even helping him ensure he does reach it.
With all that said, I think Nine might've become one of my new favorite characters, but most of the Shatterspace residents are very well executed, even the minor roles are fun.
(That, and I think The Grim is a rather interestingly dark world when you think about it; every other world has a version of Tails/Knuckles/Amy/Rouge, and at least one of them has FIVE Eggmans[/Eggmen?], but The Grim has just… no one. Whatever happened to them, they're gone. The series kind of just skips over it for now, but I don't doubt this could come up again… and be quite depressing, sorta like the World of Nothing from Super Paper Mario)
Will they ever go to the other zones in South Island?
Maybe we should’ve spent at least the first two episodes in the prime verse so as to avoid the idea of having constant flash backs, develop some empathy for the prime versions of the center characters and lastly to show an impulsive behavioral pattern that Sonic has in the way he treats the prime versions of his friends. One of which the rest of the show needs to break/change. With all of that said, though I still enjoy the show, I just wish that it would slow down a little more.
Sonic already has a multiverse, Blaze the cat. Fingers crossed she makes an appearance in the future
If I got a nickel every time a famous 80s franchise got a good live action adaptation and then a good animated series with "Prime" in its name I'd have two nickels, which isn't much but it's weird that it happened twice.
My absolute favorite scene in prime is sonic teaching new yolk knuckles and tails how to spin dash. top tier content
Is it yoke or yolk?
The intro tho
My fav scene in prime is when nine is hacking smth and uses his metal tails to destroy a robot like it was nothing
What if the reason there aint copies of Sonic and Shadow has something to do with their speed matching the shards energy
I really like the Grim, the idea of it being a blank slate with no life seems really interesting, and I feel like it will be the place where Sonic and Shadow try to recreate the original world.
Where is this quote (12:04) from?
This show is amazing, but it isn't without its flaws.
A couple of things I don't like about this show is how stupid Sonic can be sometimes, one example of this is that "how'd you get in?" gag. Like, he's not as smart as Tails but he's not a moron. Second, he becomes a punching bag against his friends. Look, I get it. You'd obviously be uncomfortable fighting AU versions of your friends, BUT PUT UP A FIGHT ATLEAST! lastly, his speed is inconsistent. Fastest thing alive, can move so fast lasers look like they're standing still…gets hit by a truck and a hammer.
Other than that, this show is fucking BALLIN'.
Also, the Egg council is the Deadly Six done right.
for once they didn't insert some dumb kid to be part of the show. From what i understand about 3D animation it's more involved than just drawing and can leave some things looking more "barren" than they should. i hope they fix the "fast pacing" and slow it down a bit, and i hope they do things with Shadow. i get his shoes are "rocket powered" or whatever but i hope they change this sometime in the future.
Holy crap Jacksepticeye
I feel like if Sonic Prime does really well they might bring Big back in future games (and I just realized while typing this that he was in Frontiers, so they aren’t afraid to bring him back) I feel like Big can work as a character if his dumbness isn’t SEVERELY OVERPLAYED, just downplay it to the type of level where it’s the kind of dumb that just cares about everyday ordinary things like Fishing, Taking his pet places, Going shopping for things he needs for the day, Helping the community, Helping people, and Hanging out with friends, heck that might have been what they were going for in Sonic Adventure 1, but the Voice Acting besides Mike Pollock/Eggman was so off like Tikal, Knuckles, Tails, Sonic(only because of the way his mouth was animated), and Amy; that it just soured that aspect/and experience of the game so people mainly focused on Big
I still feel like Rouge and Big are very odd choices for additional characters. Where's Cream? Where's Tikal? I assume they'll be saving those for when they actually introduce Chao as like, a thing.
He finally watched it 😌👌
I like this show but Sonic takes way too much. Especially if you wish me to believe this is the cannon one from the video games.
Surprised you didn't mention the music, it's amazing with constant references to the existing themes of each character, especially love shadows.theme and the pirate action song
Obviously not for me as I'm not the target audience, it was way too childish even for Sonic. The writing is worse than Colors-Forces and the different universes were incredibly generic.
Where sonic gets hit by a vehicle the second he enters new yoke city (I found it hilarious)
I think lore wise for no extra Shadow or Sonic is simple. For one, Sonic has the energy of the Prism flowing through him which is also how he's able to track down the shards, so it makes sense another Sonic wouldn't exist that way. Shadow on the other hand, as you said, used Chaos Control to escape the huge explosion and was left in the void between Shatter Spaces. I believe him not being present in a split moment caused him to technically not exist, and thus get stuck between Spaces.
Separately, I absolutely HATE how Sonic needs to learn to be nice to his friends. Why? Why is he an asshole that needs a constantly appearing omnipresent Palm Tree to tell him "Don't be mean bro." That's my biggest issue with the show so far.
Well it's been months since I watched Sonic Prime.. But I plan on re-watching it again because I wanna know what's going to happen next? Will Silver or Shadow help out Sonic to fix the Multiverse? I mean I would love to see all different variant versions of Knuckles, Rouge, Tails, Amy, and Big coming together to fight alongside with Sonic, Shadow, and Silver to fight against the Eggman army..
This is pretty much a nitpick but why is Sonic always getting…. (Insert non family friendly language) by Shadow? I mean I get he's a cool rival and SEGA are creatively bankrupt but cant Shadow just be done with his anti-hero arc and be over with it (P.S) Shadow always seems stronger then Sonic and while I agree Shadow should be a bit stronger to the point where Sonic can barely fight back? Idk Lets see how season 2 does
My favourite scene would be the fight with Dr. Deep in the stairwell because of the stunning visuals in the fight and how it feels like it could be an actual video game. I was watching it the other day and evertime the characters did something, I was wondering how it could work in a video game and it is so entertaining.
I love the Chaos Council.
They are all eggmans but have there own personalitys.
To be honest, if Chrome just adopted JXL we could replace all jpg, png, and gif files. On the other hand, I think gif has just become the word for animated image and gets used with apng already.
This movie is kind of like shrek forever after because in both movies the main characters get into a parallel universe and no friend knows them anymore.
Before watching this video, i think sonic prime clearly focuses on sonic learning to understand his friends different perspectives and learn to sometimes listen to his friends advice
Sonic prime game when?
Frankly, Shadow has no right to be mad at Sonic. Yes he wanted to tell Sonic something, but who goes around punching people to tell them something. Shadow locked his eyes on Sonic who was minding his own business and collecting rings and rammed him instantly! Shouldn't Shadow have said "Sonic, I need to talk to you!"? Even when he slammed Sonic into a rock, Shadow could've talked to Sonic then. But he attempted to smash Sonic through the rock! I just saying, if you wanna talk with someone, talk! Don't attack them right off the bat and think they'll listen to a word you say. Heck, they were talking while they were fighting! Shadow could've said what he had to say then! Why doesn't he just talk to Sonic like a normal person? GOSH!
Based off what shadow said green hill isn't a shatterspace because the shatterspaces are seemingly broken off of the main universe with green hill
I love the end
Okay but Boscage is the worst one by far, its just generic huge forest with no intriguing details, the canopy is ugly as hell with those nasty ps2 trees everywhere, and the inner jungle being dark actually the only redeeming part since it gives a cool neon lit space that makes the models look better than they normally do.
