Some might say it’s too early to tell but I can say for me anyway if the quality keeps up then NieR:Automata could be deserving of an AOTS title but time will tell!

I feel this anime will be on both side of the same coins, people will either love it or hate it. I'm on the side that loved it and I'm going to continue watching.
The fact that no one is talking about the op is criminal.
The people complaining should go watch Persona 5 the animation.
There are 26 different endings in nier automata. So they would need 26 episodes to get all the endings, maybe 25 if they want to implement one in the anime
It was okay, A-1 pictures keep releasing bangers with great 3D mechs like 86, and the music was great, and the story is interesting but doesn't really make me excited for the next episode yet, but definitely has potential enough to make me keep watching
My only exposure to this so far was a certain short movie by StudioFOW, so here is what I learned from watching the first episode:
Terminator happened
Humanity fights machines using androids
Androids are not allowed emotions
Androids show a surprising amount of emotion (design flaw)
Androids can feel pain (design flaw)
They can build more androids should they get disabled in battle
Field information does not get sent to central server automatically (design flaw)
It does, however, look very nice. Good job, animators!

I've glad to see this game get an anime. The music was brilliant. It was nice that 2B is starting to show emotions when at first she told 9S that emotions aren't necessary.
Ive been so hype for this, the game is still to this day one of the best I've played from the gameplay to story, music, characters an all the deeper philosophical meaning that comes up from time to time was amazing so to see it get an anime for me to experience it all again feels real good, I love how they kept the ost and how some scenes are literally took straight from the game looks so good with the 2D anime treatment, hopefully they pull this off right so it lives up to the games standards🔥💯
The first glimpse of the flying units and their 3-d flight, along with the vocals in the music, hard reminded me of Homeworld.
Never played the game, loved the episode. I'm excited about watching this one, more than any other anime this season. It was so good! If I get an unexpected visit from truck-kun, I'm asking Eris to reincarnate me as 2b. For sure. I can't believe I got to go from Overlord to Chainsaw man to Nier: Automata. I feel so lucky – this is a good time to be alive! If I can get some Konosuba this year, my happiness will be complete. 🙂

For someone who has played and finished the game I am so glad that some scenes are different from dialogue to scenes themselves (and for all the people that want to reply to me KEEP IT SPOILER FREE)
I watched a video of someone comparing side by side the anime scenes and the video game cutscenes and gameplay. Man, the game looks badass. Sadly, I'm not able to play it right now., but I'm definitely looking forward to the rest of the anime.

I liked what I saw. As someone who's gotten to level 99 but has only beaten 90% of the colloseum but has yet to actually beat the game even once. I liked what I saw.
As for the cgi. Japan has been pretty much, "we don't give af if yall don't like it". For the longest time and that ain't going to change. Their appreciation for cg is just different from the rest of the world. Their stuck on legos and everyone else is messing with Knex. Animators over there aren't being paid enough to care. People aren't buying enough dvd/blurays for them to care. As a fan of the 90s show Reboot. The cgi still looks jarring to me when 2B in a mech should look 2d lol. But I'm not gonna sh*t on the whole episode because of that one thing.
I liked the puppet show at the end. Unexpected yet funny. I don't know if this show has Aots potential. But it looks like it's gonna be nice ride at least.
Really enjoyed this first episode! The anime established the relationship between the two characters and the characters are enjoyable.
to be honest I think the anime was beautiful had some scenes that looked like a 7 year old video game but it wasn't all the time but the series didn't grab me ill continue watching but it might have to be a series that I only watch reactions of. its not bad but it wasn't able to keep my attention. (btw never seen the game or seen any source material)
The game is one of my favorites ever. I'm very pleased with this first episode. The CGI looked weird at times but overall everything was great. Also, the openning is amazing.
Anime only here and I love this first episode. There are a lot of mysteries and intrigues to make me want to come back for more. The visuals are gorgeous to look at, and I love the character designs of 2B and 9S and how smooth they move during action sequences. After 86 and Lycoris Recoil I look forward to the next major A-1 project and this might be it.
I'm a huge fan of the video game and I loved this first episode.
The original author (who is also working on this adaptation) said there will be some changes to the story, but so far the anime has been extremely faithful to the source material.
Unfortunately there is some immersive stuff that can only be achieved in the video game medium (they already had to skip something related to that) so I suggest you to play the game anyway, but all things considered, the chances to have a really good anime adaptation are high.
Episode 1 was a great retelling of the tutorial. Very faithful to the game.

The pacing felt a little weird, but overall it was a good start.
My best friend is a huge fan of the game. I never go around to playing it, but I'm glad I have something that is digestable for me so that we have a topic for the next time we hang out. Plus, after seeing that first episode, I just might get the game. 👍
Only thing I know about Nier, are the copious amounts of 'cultured' fanart, so this ep was breathtaking to behold. I'll definitely keep my eye out on this one.
Honestly, as someone who has played the game, it doesn’t seem like it will be an alternative way to experience the story. Sure ep1 was more or less trying to be 1:1 adaptation of the game, but it skips some details. The animation is good and I’m sure it will be a good show, but Nier Automata as a game is something entirely unique. To anyone reading, if you liked the first episode, play the game
As a super fan of the game I enjoyed every moment, it was practically the first whole hour of gameplay summed up in 20 minutes. I was a little worried because even though I know everything that's going on, it didn't seem to give enough context for new people and it was super fast-paced, so it could be considered too confusing at least for a first episode. The 3D doesn't convince me, it just distracts me because it stands out big time from the rest of what's on screen, so I don't think it was necessary. However everything else is pretty much the same game I love with a passion, the plot, the characters, the music. So Idk about other people, but for me personally I'm going to be enjoying this a lot.
Anime is quite 1 to 1 with the game but interested to see how they reveal the story.
So, Nier: Automata is by far my favourite videogame. Nothing comes close. It has the power to restore your belief in humanity, and then some. The problem is, that the way the game achieved this, is not very well possible to replicate in any different genres. I am curios how they gonna do this in the anime adaptation tho.
The 3d stuff is pretty bad, but honestly the game didn't look that good either, aside from the playable characters, and it's fans are completely aware of it. It's just not we love automata for. Hopefully the visual weirdness won't put you off too bad. If they do it right, automata is the best story I've ever seen (aside from maybe it's indirect prequel), and completely worth putting up with some initial discomfort.
Since you didnt play the game the 3d efects are easter eggs for the players. The game have the same weird efects not exact the same but very close
Tbh, A-1 really adapted this well so far. Thier style of animation fits rather well, and even the worst of the 3D animation is not really bad at all
Most slept on anime series of all time. I've never seen so much hate for a masterpiece.
