In today’s hot or rot? we review and react to episode 2 of Rupaul’s Drag Race All Stars 8. Our queens were challenged to act in a collection of sketches in RDR Live!, a parody of SNL. The runway category was Net Gala. We review and break down each queen’s performance in the episode and also take a look at some drama bubbling up from Naysha Lopez who is claiming the producers may be playing favorites with placements.

i rlly felt that kasha or Heidi should have won this ep. jimbo was okay but was not a standout. but obviously they wanted her to face pangina
The way u describe naysha's run and early elimination, I feel, is very non judgemental and fair. I wish she could get out of her lil beauty box and expand her asthetic. Instead she gets bitter and lashes out and blames everyone else.

As soon as Jaymes came out on the runway, my mom said "oh Aquanette hair spray" so I think that's sorta what Jaymes was going for, which is absolutely iconic. I'm not a big Jaymes fan, but I love a 60s moment on the runway, especially a smart one like that.
Of course its Miss Lopez with the delusion.. Who else. I knew from the titles that its probably her saying some shit.

Sounds like there was something going wrong with maybe the lighting or the set or something that isn't the performance(which happens all the time, especially given this film crew isn't used to the live format), so why is she even bringing it up? Naysha has been acting brand new this whole season.

Like girl, first episode Jaymes had a good verse and the best runways out of anyone. There was no mini-challenge first episode, all the looks got judged with the performance. No one looked nearly as good as Jaymes other than Kandy's fucking mug in that red and silver look? BEAT ( Also Kasha's Lucy look )
and 2nd Episode? I just think Naysha gets that " Bert & Ernie " thing Ru talked about with Jimbo and Jessica. Jaymes fucking anchored her and made her look less like a manic try-hard going for cringey and easy laughs that just didn't come. Honestly if everyone else hadn't done so well, on a normal season Jaymes doing that probably could've saved Naysha for giving her that balance. While Naysha unfortunately being SO big and manic likely made Jaymes have to "over-anchor" and not have as many big special moments.
Naysha keeps saying she has so much more to give and show but she actually doesn't.

I get the sense that some of the queens aren't familiar with SNL. The newscasters are 'reading fake news' and also delivering jokes They could've afforded to loosen up al little…

Perhaps a hot take, but Kasha Davis was the only one that made me laugh out loud in the whole comedy challenge so I think she should have won.

this was my first intro to jimbo these 2 episodes. so i went back & watched UKVTW. i genuinely had to google the question "can jimbo dance or lip sync at all?" maybe she does better on canada drag race lol

Definitely a misrepresentation of what Naysha said. She said that Kandy got a second take and it did not matter if she got 5 takes that Kandy still killed it the first time
Naysha sure has a lot to say for someone who came to All Stars wearing an outfit and wig (in different colors) that she got sent home in on her season. And that was supposed to be her signature drag. I didn't see any growth or change from her. I'm sorry but going to All Stars and not even elevating your looks really, not pulling out all the stops? It's a mistake. All I was reminded of was her flopping on Season 8. She's gorgeous, absolutely, but that's not enough for All-Stars. Maybe if there was a hosting challenge, or asking questions to other queens challenge? But there's not. I just don't think she can accept that the other queens just outshine her. James may have fumbled the first week, but she was hilarious while doing it, she kept in character and made it funny. I truly don't get why Naysha would use her time to just put down other queens and fight her elimination like that. She knows it was deserved, I think she just also knows that if she "spills tea" or talks shit on the show or queens that it will get her more attention.
You always say exactly the same things I thought. Are you also surprised how little love Heidi's outfits are getting from the judges?
Since Canada vs The World I have wondered if Jimbo purposefully throws the lip sync so that she doesn't have to send someone home. It's a good strategy I think, she gets the win, she can't be sent home and she doesn't have to be the bad person. The only time it wouldn't work out is if she chose the absolute wrong person compared to who the group chose and then that was revealed after the lip sync and everyone was really shocked and then the person she had chosen to send home remains in the competition with a fierce grudge against Jimbo and then when Jimbo has an off week and is in the bottom 2 that queen winds up winning and aggressively eliminates her. But surely that would never happen, right?
I love Jimbo so much!! I worry that if she genuinely can’t lip sync though that she won’t win all stars :/ makes me sad cuz she’s so freakin talented. Also I love kasha so much and think she did such a good job this episode and should have been in the top, she made me laugh a lot.

I'm pretty sure Kandi's face on her outfit was created by layering, folding, and sculpting the tulle. It was impressive as a piece of art but it was NOT flattering and didn't read well.
