Awesome episode this was, and a great sport festival episode this was. I feel like Rei did offer him self to make those rice balls, because he doesn’t know how long this will last. So he want to make the most of it, as he normally would never do this. It was also great to see the family be at the school ground, as Kazuki was getting along with the moms. But they said that most of the moms liked Rei’s mysterious dark side as he looked like a hitman. Which was so funny to hear seeing how true it actually is. When they had made too much food to eat just for Miri. They invited those moms, and Miri was so excited and loved Rei special rice balls. Which had chocolate puff, strawberry jam, and gummy bears inside them. Which made Kazuki so sour, but Rei also did it as those are Miri favorites. Which shows again how much he cares about Miri. Also during one of the festival competitions, Miri was with that boy again. And was so close to him that Kazuki and even Rei turned into overprotective parents. Then Rei started to break free from his silenced and cheer for Miri. But as that caused her to lose he got so much guilt as what he just did cost her victory. Which did reinforce his silent behavior. But I still love how they all worked together to get that final gold metal. Also Kyutaro did look quite conflicted this episode

I was waiting for something to happen throughout this field day n was happy that nothing did happen. Then we got that after credit scene and now I'm nervous for them

Man I was watching this episode with my sister and I had to use every fiber muscle in my body to not bawl my eyes out in front of her , when Miri grabbed rei and kazuki to the finish line because the card said “family” my eyes were sweating. But of course they couldn’t let us have a wholesome episode and just had to end it with that hag, istg if kyu betrays them I’m gonna cry my eyes out.

It would not surprise me in the slightest if Rei's father orders him to kill Kazuki and Miri to prove his qualifications to assume the mantle of the family. With the understanding that they will all be killed (by creepshow last words collector no doubt) if he fails to comply.

the wait made this sugary episode feel all the much more sweeter!

Ep 8 was set in August (Rei's birthday is August 10) and this episode is set in October so that means that it has been two months since the first request was placed on Kyu. It's either Kyu has been stalling hence the follow up from Ogino or he's already working on it in secret. I trust Kyutaro not to betray his dear friends so I'll break if he eventually succumbs to that old man Suwa. 😭

Rei is showing more emotions and enthusiasm and free thinking over time. And I guess his dad is having none of it. I think Kyu will likely not do the job so the other assassin will have to take over. I don’t see Rei’s dad being redeemed somehow. Good to see Rei try his best making rice balls even if they are unhealthy and odd with the favourite things in them. I’m just curious if they will remain as assassins or not at the end of the series

The fact too that Rei also was really trying his best to be a parent. Like even though the rice balls he made were more like dessert than a real meal item and all the kids were happy with them because it had all her favorite sweets. And it’s just adorable. Also Rei’s “father” really isn’t his family

This episode really showed us how this little family, all of them, after 10 months together, are finally all on the same page and showing their best selves. They are passed the point of no return. They can’t go back to a time when they weren’t together and a family. It’s so obvious. But it’s also obvious in the photos in the hands of the Suwa organization and obvious to the hitman that apparently followed them the whole day. It’s such a scary reality check, and they don’t even know. 😰
