Season 1 was good but I can't get into the series after the time skip. Only reason I'm still reading the manga is bcuz I already started reading. Thorfinn is just a boring MC 💀, if he was like his father that would be different but the guy runs from fights ALL THE TIME and in the most recent chapter said he doesn't believe in righteous violence like oh my God Thorfinn just FIGHT!!! Thorfinn vs Snake is literally his last actual fight in the series (at least so far)

Thorfinn already regretted fighting Snake, because once he started fighting he automatically closed all possible doors of saving Gardar through peaceful means, even if it seemed like there was no other way. This is just another test of his resolve after he failed the last one with Gardar. The episode title: Courage, is just as much for Olmar as it is for Thorfinn because for him to practice what he preaches in that day and age takes a metric ton of courage.

This is basically the test to see if you understood the message of the show. If you think thorfin should fight his way out of this situstion or 1v1 or whatever, you’ve basically missed the entire message of this show.
Nobody here is thorfinn’s enemies. Why should he have to fight any of them.
No wonder this episode is called "Courage". Olmar finally got the courage to say he can never be like his big brother Thorgil right to his face. He spoke out from both his heart and mind on how he felt on the whole "Norse warriors must fight and die proud" nonsense he was always fed with specially by his big brother. He's legitimately scared for his life after seeing how brutal a war or a battle really is. Plus he also saw the burden of killing a human being for the 1st time. He doesn't want to become a cold blooded warrior who experiences all these things. The decison Olmar made here was indeed courageous, smart and not cowardly at all. This was the 1st time Olmar admitted his faults and was honest with himself for being immature and screwing up things. No wonder the old master was right that despite Ketil losing his farm, his son turned into a proper man.
