if people think ketil is the worst then they must be dumb. ketil is a bad person but he at least gave people away out of slavery and he honored his word. Thorfin and Einer didn't work as hard as Gardar who got traumatized and beaten to the point he became a different person.

YOOOOO! Season 1 Thorfinn and Canute have completely swapped places in season 2. Thorfinn was a mindless kid, so focused on revenge that he couldn't even answer simple questions(from Askladd, the slave girl, Thor, Thorkell etc.). And Canute being a kid on the complete otherside of that, weak, blindly religious etc. Now they have switched through they're own personal development and goal searching. 10/10 story telling

A nice parallel is how Ketil was such a coward that he bent every decision he made to fit what Thorgil expected from him.

On the other hand, Olmar stood up to Thorgil's decision here and admitted that he was afraid and was sure about the surrender.

Overall Thorgil took this pretty well, all things considered. Nice to see that he's not the type to fight over the leadership with his bro, or to beat up his family.

If I'm not wrong, the kindness that Thorfinn talked about doesn't refer to Ketil, but to Sverkil and Pater. I think it was clearer in the manga.

I believe that correct answer is a combination of both Sheera's & Roshi's 2nd thought on Canute. If Canute was being an Ass or was afraid, he would have just said NO! I will not see him. Or, "Send him away", or "Kill him." But he said: "No, that won't be necessary." By saying "No" 1st Canute is exercising the precedent that a King does not treat w/ slaves. But by adding "that wont be necessary", Canute is acknowledging that Thorfinn will come and see him anyway.

13:20 wow I really dont know how you guys got that idea from Canute lol, he never looked down to anyone because of status. To me it looked clear that he was somewhat scared to see him again due to their last interaction with thorfinn being a beast trying to murder him.

I think Canut didn't want to meet thorfin since its usless to talk with old thorfin, he didn't see or know the growth he has now. From his prespective, Thorfin is just an angry and arrogant little brat that will add nothing to the situation but make it more problematic which he doesn't want. He kinda sees him as another angry war hungry viking that was always rude to him.
