This gonna get more interesting little by little, i was hype asf while reading the manga I hope that they keep doing a excellent work on the animation! 😮💨
Cool line ,i have no enemies
Peakland saga
Me, personally, I don't have any enemies
Canute commanding the waves to stop is actually Vinland Saga's interpretation of "king canute and the tide", one of the most famous stories of the actual king Canute. In reality the king did it as a lesson of humility, to show that there are forces that even the power of a king can't control, that even a king can't stop the tide. It's cool how yukimura adapted it to his own Canute (not to teach humility in his case tough 😆)
Drott: "Thorfinn, son of Thors. I'm sorry I doubted you"
Basically "I apologize, I wasn't familiar with your game" meme
As a manga reader I have nothing but praise, its just peak fiction, simple as that!
Watching Thorfinn grow into who he is now and seeing him finally understanding his father's words has been incredible. The story is impeccable
Thorfin looking at strength from the point of view of everyone’s life has value and if we can’t resolve through communication and cooperation with out anyone being hurt then there will always be war because we know hurt people hurt people!
From Canute’s point of view while we are all cornered off into our own little factions there will always be the haves and the have nots and since no amount of pleading to a higher power changes any of this we need to forge paradise on our own under one Leadership for all and some things are inescapable for the greater good and he sees himself as that Ruler.
Next episode…. Handshake❤
This is a great "fight" for the battle of ideologies clashing, which could be just as hype as a cool looking action scene.
"I'm my father's son" -Gohan
Great break down I love when you dig deep👏🏽
The moral debate between the two is so interesting. Canute kind of reminds me of Eren, but with a more complex philosophy behind his actions. The assertion that the suffering of many (erens genocide and canutes pillaging) is justified by the liberation of a few (paradis island and the vikings/sinners) is a quality they share.
However i do find it easier to see canutes persoective than erens lol.
Also, i dont think thorfinn and canute share the same goal. On the surafce it seems similar as you could see vinland, a place without war or slavery, as a paradise. However they differ on two major points – 1, Canutes paradise is heaven on earth, Thorfinss is simply the absence of man made suffering, and 2, Canutes paradise will be made whilst Throfinns will be FOUND.
I think its to purposefully emphasise the difference in their characterizations and represent their character change. Canute went from a passive, genlte being to an active forceful one. Thorfinns growth was in the opposite direction. Therefore, i think the show wants us to disagree with Canutes approach.
If an acceptance of the pain of reality and the power to take that without retaliation (Thorfinn being beaten by Drott is the physical representation of this) is what was required for Thorfinn to finally be called "a true warrior", Canute cannot he further from it. He is retaliation PERSONIFIED – aka his rebellion against God, the ultimate retaliation against existence itself.
Canute is not a warrior – he is a King. Sweyn reminds him of this daily. The crown on his head corrupted him from the minute he first wore it in season 1 (the first time he kills someone). Despite not being obsessed with material possesions like other kings Canute is still obsessed with the materialsation of a paradise on earth. So much so that he disgregards the hell he leaves on his wake.
This episode was excellent. Some of the best I've ever seen, period. Ive still got a lot of amazing anime, manga, manhwa etc to experience though!
I love how even though everything Canute is saying pisses off Einar, what Thorfinn is seeing infront of him has created a growing admiration and respect for Canute calling him incredible for having this vision of saving the vikings that never crossed Thorfinn's mind. I'm having flashbacks of Fate/Zero when Rider, Gilgamesh, and Saber had that banquet discussing their different POV's of what a king should be
155K!!
Dammmmiiit why did it end like that bro!!!!!!!
Thorfinn goated!!!
Just wanted to say that out of all the reaction channels out there, your ability to observe and understand the motivations behind characters and events is second to none. Your awareness is S tier. Keep up the great reactions!
I gotta say it's dope seeing you react to hype fights scenes and stuff. But it's SUCH a treat to see you react and hear your input on the introspective and philosophical moments in anime
I think next episode we're gonna see Thorfinn give his monologue, we only really heard Canute's side this episode. The set up of surrounding Thorfinn and trying to intimidate him and test him reminds of when Thorkell tested Canute with a fake punch, where Canute didn't even flinch.
fireeeeeee
Sweetie, your video quality looking crispy. 📹✨️
