Yay Einar is gonna be friends with Thorfinn! but also maybe might learn to hate him! You know, because of the flashbacks we've already seen in this episode. This will be interesting to see unravel
About 27% of the manga that currently is published has been adapted before this season, and this season will bring it up to about 50% (probably)

The Manga-Chapter which this Episode is based on introduced the Character "Einar" a bit different.
We didn't see his Family at that point at all nor how he became a slave, curious if they will change his character overall since the chapter wasn't as "dark" as this episode (which is unusual, most of the time it's the other way around).

,Hávamál
A poem found within the Poetic Edda, a collection of Old Nordic poems. The title translates to "sayings of the high one," and the contents of the poem are attributed to Odin. The Japanese translation, when not simply titled "Hávamál," is known as "the song of Odin" or "the proverbs of Odin." Hávamál is a gnomic poem, meaning that its verses are meant to serve as lessons or advice on customary topics, such as the laws of hospitality for both guest and host.
King Sweyn(Svhen) of Denmark offered Askeladd a stark choice: the security of his home-land Wales, or the life of his master, Prince Canute(Can-oot). Askeladd's answer was immediate: He struck off Sweyn's head. The meeting of military leaders erupted into chaos after this act of regicide(the action of killing a King), but Canute recognized the play at hand, and killed Askeladd himself, thereby accomplishing Askeladd's aim. Canute immediately took the throne. But after witnessing the end of his father figure, Thorfinn was left empty inside. He was eventually sold into slavery to work on a farm.
Hey Omario, to answer your questions at the end, remember that at the end of season 1 after Canute kills Askeladd, Thorfinn tries to attack Canute and as punishment he was taken away and sold as a slave. So yes, Thorfinn is a slave there along with Einar. Also you don’t know the blonde guy, but he does look pretty similar to the one brother from s1. Looking forward to your reactions to the rest of this season because it’s one of my favorite arcs ever!

To preface this comment I will say your intro discussion brought on this seemingly random ass comment but, all my homies hate Floki!
To me it is almost perfect episode, and it's because in the world the real perfection does not exist. I liked every minute of it but here is standing out moments for me: 1) the Norse poem at the beginning 2) Einar, mom and sis table scene 3) Einar's inner rage portrayal with this sick transition to blizzard. 4) Einar and the sea, here i got shivers. 5) Leif – for some reason it saddens me that he became even more old. So aside this all – beautiful shots of nature, new soundtracks, og beautiful soundtracks, and i would add another one 6) sound design. Well, i guess when I said i liked every minute of it i didn't lie.

I think Thorfinn isn't a slave … his goal in his life was just to kill Askeladd and he couldn't make it, so Thorfinn now is staying away from the war in that farm by his will and he probably has no goal in his life.
