Across the sandy dunes of Planet Gunsmoke lay desolate towns with destructive futuristic tech running amok. This lawless realm is an unforgiving battleground where gunmen fight fiercely for survival. And one such gunman is our show’s compassionate, tragic hero, Vash The Stampede, dubbed the Humanoid Typhoon. That being said, with the controversial 3DCG reboot of Trigun airing, we thought it is appropriate to put together a video discussing whether Trigun Stampede is an acceptable successor to the cult classic or simply a cash grab.

Now that the season is finished, its clear more than ever that Stampede wasn't rushing its story. Trigun 98 only adapted 40 or so chapters of the Trigun manga and spread them (along with a bunch of original stories) across 26 episodes. Trigun's original manga and its continuation Maximum together have almost 120 chapters. Stampede is lifting heavily from the Maximum side which Trigun 98 hardly touched. Thus, Stampede can't waste a dozen episodes on Vash going to random towns and beating up generic thugs. They have a lot of material to get through. Trigun 98 had a lot less so it could be forgiven for stretching things out.
Btw in the manga the name's planet is not gunsmoke but No Man's Land
I didn’t like the cgi overall. It’s gotten better than beserk but it’s not there yet. It looks clunky asf. Even in dragon ball broly the ending fight was an atrocity to watch.Ive only seen that movie once for that reason.
I’ve watch the OG about 5 times. The music, story, animation, humor, etc are what makes the og a MASTERPIECE. I didn’t get any of that in stampede until the ending of the vash vs knifes fight. OG ALL DAY
Trigun Stampede definitely a worthy successor
and it did it better than the original anime on Trigun 1998
I loved the video. Kinda randomly came across it, and this has motivated me to watch Stampede. Because I had hesitated to watch it before as a fan of the manga. Thank you!

The new series is more like the manga than the original anime xD for the ppl who complain abt the show not being trigun. Even the author loves the new show!
Vash brother is not named Knife its Nai.
The planet is call No Man's Land.
The Og anime is 60% filler and butchers the adaptation of the manga.
Vash as yet to destroy the city and is 6M$$ is because Nai.
I'm sorry but stamped is FAR FAR FAR better adaptation then that garbage the Original is.

A shitty adaptation…
My biggest gripe from Stampede other than the Milli replacement is that Trigun is still Trigun but Vash's personality is completely different in a pretty bad way. In the original, he ran from fights and messes up from time to time but he also has just as many bold moments. His pacifism feels a lot less meaningful and just feels petty overall. In Stampede, Wolfwood even points out that Vash pretty much just doesn't like getting his hands dirty and that he's just a full fledged coward. His motivation and inspiration to not kill was a very pinnacle plot point to Trigun and taking that away hurts his character severely.
