Ithey can keep the subs, but the subs should be the 2nd to last ptu wave. So they get a couple waves of testers, then a flood of subs who wanna just check things out, then after they get the flood from the open ptu before live.

Why is this a big deal in the Star citizen community. So what, it is just a PTU who case it is a game.

Justin Nixon 2023.08.13 - 10:53 pm

I have spent 3k on this game and do not expect anything more or anything less from CIG. I no idea why this PTU is such a big deal, so what.

If they paid the people who tested it the way they want to see via something in game or in hanger, this whole entire issue would be a non-issue.

Dangerous Spoon 2023.08.13 - 11:38 pm

We already playtest when we play in live. That's why I don't play PTU

schtoobs 2023.08.13 - 11:50 pm

The problem is that after 12 years (or whatever) it feels a bit insulting that CIG are still so openly gouging for money. It makes me think that they think the game is more than a glorified tech demo. If they were making substantial progress I think people would be more forgiving of the stupid financially driven decisions.

I’m not usually a doomsayer in any of these flash in the pan dramas, but the game is a disappointment to more and more players and the tone and direction of the company are putting people off more and more. My personal opinion is I don’t care in the slightest when I have to endure the next patch. It will be bad whenever I get access. It won’t be the game I paid for all those years ago. Subs in wave 1 though? Woof!

36:30 fanboying is not a current or new thing in the slightest bit. Console wars have been around since the dawn of consoles. If you play Halo, you must hate cod and defend HALO, Visa versa. 1965 if you buy a chevy, you have to defend it like a family member, and ford is evil. This is ancient human behavior, Not some weird emergent phenomenon because twitter exists.

I feel that with their need for performance/volume testing should be done ny virtual headless linux clients and a few real persons as less people will be playing the PU this year anyway with Starfield out.. i agree this PTU should be real testing, not a sneak peek , 1hr session, huge GB download, that it is for now.

More “Whaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!”. You aren’t owed anything. Get over it and get used to the change.

Man, I hope you get like a n00bifier for a cohost. Give us a dynamic!

I think EVO has served its purpose and it is time to overhaul the entire PTU program to make it simpler:

1) Abolish EVO. No more NDA. ETF = Wave 1.
2) Participation drives access to any wave, not dollars spent. No content creator special access token.
3) Easy to get in, easy to get booted out for lack of participation, easy to get back in if you play again.

If CIG can't get enough players, then institute a simple reward system for events where they need high concurrency. It can be a cheap asset in game which they've proven they can whip out in in a couple of days. Just keep this simple.

Paul Lai 2023.08.14 - 2:13 am

CIG can use the ORGs. With the org network it is easy to recruit and organise testing session. But is cig really interested in developing star citizen?

Kozi03 2023.08.14 - 2:34 am

I actually find it crazy 10 years on people are jumping over each other and getting upset about not being in PTU. Live servers are PTU, it's so Alpha and buggy it's not funny. Testing for them seemed good at the start when it was smaller, felt we were actually helping to get the game out faster. Guys they are about to hit $600 million. They can "PTU" them damn selves.

Pastafazool 2023.08.14 - 2:46 am

I think people are gonna be babies and less people will test now

Papp263 2023.08.14 - 2:53 am

At the end of the day… who cares about this testing junk… enough is enough… if a developer can create a game (Starfield) in roughly the same amount of time (NOT STAR CITIZEN) (as CIG have focused most time on SQ42)… we should at least have if not now but very soon SQ 42… CIG are after our money and nothing else… they need to step it up! with the amount of "Team" they have now they are more than big enough to have at least one of the games complete by now.

CMD Kaboom 2023.08.14 - 2:54 am

SC is Grifters dream!

Field Hood Gaming - FHG 2023.08.14 - 3:23 am

Most other games "PTU" environments are usually locked after the initial player tester sign ups. In SC, at least we have the opportunity every patch to join the PTU.

Stanton Security & Logistics Federation 2023.08.14 - 4:00 am

Gonna have to agree with Sikmikaniko in my personal opinion however,

The Star Citizen community is acting similar to Australian Rural communities where they make a change in policies without warning and the entire community plunges into turmoil and chaos.

What CIG need to do, is COMMUNICATE before making sudden changes and for the community to have the right to vote and provide feedback to make it fair for everyone or atleast the majority of people to be in favour. Can't please everyone but atleast the community will have the expectation for change and adapt to the new arrangements.

Joshua Goodsell 2023.08.14 - 4:10 am

Only reason Subscribers are in Wave one is because marketing always needs a say, it's not just for game development now

Jesse Plowman 2023.08.14 - 5:43 am

Getting fan bois to do the testing is stupid to begin with.

Paul H 2023.08.14 - 7:13 am

Gating it to pledge amount is a bad idea to begin with. It should be time logged in, missions complete, cargo hauled, issue council votes etc. Make it a % of the top contributors instead of fixed number

Couple it with a reward for people who log in and commit time to the ptu. It doesn't even have to be a big reward. Like a rep boost, some auec or other random easily twesked number or just givd access to a bunch of ships in ptu that'll get wiped anyway. But they havnt tried ANYTHING like that😂

Dave Mardon 2023.08.14 - 8:03 am

Ok, you got a txt message regarding testing…You left your spouse on the couch to answer the call….WTF, dude, pathetic.
