talking about how good Trigun is for like 17 minutes

When I started Stampede I used to have similar critics. Then I read the manga and I got it.
Stampede isn't a remake of the 98's anime (which wasnt a faithful adaptation either). It's a new take on the manga.

There's a lot of love put into that show, it's really subtle most of the time but it's definitely a love letter to the Manga.

A lot of the changes aren't even changes at all.

Meryl not having a romantic relationship with Vash is similar to the manga. Her being a journalist is also in Trimax tho she start as an insurance agent and ends as a journalist which does fit her character arc a lot tbh. So I get why they started with it in Stampede.

There's a lot of exposition, I do agree on that point. Especially through Roberto but there's also a lot of symbolism and environmental story telling that shows a lot more than what is plainly said. (keeping in mind they're all unreliable narrators).

I think their most risky bet with that first season is the change in personality. I had a very hard time appreciating emo Wolfwood at first but this is a prequel season. They're at their youngest. All of the characters slowly transitioning into their older, more familiar, self. And that's interesting I think. We now know everything about them. Their story and their core, and we can now focus on the journey.

Another thing is the change in the sci-fi which I also agree lack in originality and atmosphere compared to the original. HOWEVER it does make up in world building. Orange went a bit wild with it. And now we get to have a really thought out world instead of something more rooted in symbolism. Especially around the cult and the worm faction (which are more important in Trimax than 98 but ultimately not very developed)

The worst offense of the show is mostly the rapid fire pacing. It's difficult to understand the time spent, and to feel real cohesion and attachement between the characters, but in the story, they did spend 2 months and some together so it's not senseless. It just translate badly on screen.

Honestly, I'm just curious to see where they're going and what's their take with this story. It's probably not gonna end like in 98's. But I'm not so sure it will be the same as Trimax. We will see hehe.
