Dune Part 2 looks incredible, sounds incredible and is an unlike most blockbusters in theaters. In this video I talk about why the industry needs to embrace making films this way.

Loved the heck out of it. One of the best series to come out in forever.

This movie was ass

Visually the movie was stunning. and they did a good job of world-building, but it was a bit too preachy with the "send them to paradise", "messiah" stuff. Also guy takes a knife to the torso and was no worse for wear? The bad guys are all bad at fighting and the good guys are all great at fighting. Just seemed a storm-trooper kinda of predictable.

if Idiocracy and Wall-e didn't wake everyone up, Dune is not going to do it 🤔🤷‍♂️

It's wonderful that Villeneuve's big gamble has paid off with Dune 1 and 2 and no doubt 3. But I'm not sure there's much for Hollywood to learn from this because most big gambles fail and we never hear about them.

The real creative risks have been happening on TV, not in movie theaters, for years now. Started with The Sopranos. Hulu's new Shogun is just the latest. Dya think we'd see something of that caliber in movie theaters? No, we'll get mindless mush like Cameron's Avatar movies.

But that's okay, movie theaters are worthless. When I saw Dune 2 I couldn't believe all the ADS!!! they showed. Not trailers, ADS! They expect me to pay to watch ads? Dune will get me into the theater but very little else will. The theaters must want to go out of business.

I love all the wake-up calls happening, with Dune and Dune part two for example.
It also happened in the game industry with Baldur's Gate 3.
We need more people and studios to show what the movie and videogame industry should stand for… to show passion for the project instead of only think about how they can get the most amount of money out of it. In the end, these types of projects are way more profitable than the cheap cash grabs they so often put out the last 5-10 years.

Dune2 was one of the best movie experiences I’ve had in a long time. Movie was done based on a classic sf novel and benefited from staying close to the storyline. Not turned into an abomination that the audiences hate by having to check boxes, a Woke agenda , and DEI.

Nothing will ever top David Lynch's version. His abstract style brings art to film, something that no other mainstream director would dare do.

@isaias630 2024.04.10 - 2:02 am

Can you please say the directors name with more respect, “Dennis Villanueva”

I loved everything about it!…except the ending. I really didn't like how much of a jerk Paul was to Chani at the end. It was completely different from what the book did. It was almost like he was using her to get to where he is at the end of the movie instead of actually loving her, like he does in the book. In the book he says that he will wed the emperor's daughter for peace, but will never love her and that Chani is his true love. He just let her walk away at the end of the movie. I really didn't like that.

Actually Sora is a wake up call for Hollywood. Not sure what the future holds for Hollywood when any human can Prompt AI to produce a full feature film with compelling stories and special effects. Right now the length of of Video produced by Sora is 1 min…expect that to increase exponentially. Any attempts of Censorship will result in Jailbreak versions of Sora. Hollywood and Legacy Media is not ready for this

I loved Part I for the mere spectacle of the production but I came away from Part II underwhelmed. Of course, the look and the sounds of the movie (Part II) were spectacular and as the name of this video says, "a wake-up call" for future blockbusters. Watching the full-end credit list made me gobsmacked at just how many people were involved in the making of this movie. I realised that any adaptation of Herbert's book requires some serious choices had to be made. For me, Denis Villeneuve and those involved in honing this story made the choice of foregrounding the political upheaval as primary and the Freman belief in Paul as the messiah as secondary. David Lynch's much-maligned Dune (1984) played down the political and foregrounded the religious/witchcraftiness of Paul's becoming the Kwisatz Haderach. I don't recall the term Kwisatz Haderach being said in Part II. I actually preferred Lynch's choice. Give me the supernatural anytime since it deals with other kinds of belief and faith systems. Yeah, I'm superficial but I get enough of the political just watching American politics on the TV news. Perhaps Part III will address Paul's becoming? BTW I thought the whole gladitor scene introducing us to Feyd-Rautha was a little tedious and too long. I guess that turned me off in the end.
