i dunno why but i always thought akane and aqua’s relationship more like brother and sister. i mean at least it’s better than the real brother and sister relationship😭

Aqua was there to support her at her lowest, so wanting to do the same for Aqua is reasonable. But going as far as killing someone for him is not good.

When Aqua thought his father was dead, Akane knew that was not the case. But she did not tell Aqua about this.
So I would not consider her as yandere or toxic. But currently, their relationship is kinda messed up.
I'll try to express my point of view ( it's going to be long ) *SPOILER MANGA
– "Akane has no personality of her own"
I have trouble with this argument. It's true that she started imitating Ai to look like the ideal girl according to Aqua's pov. But she does it mainly in a professional environment, whether on TV or in the theater. And that makes sense. Imitating Ai when you work in entertainment just makes sense asf. Imitating her poise and charisma is extremely beneficial in winning the hearts of the public. Akane is an actress, her job is to "play a role". So I don't really see the problem.
Outside of work, she's nothing like Ai. Take Kana, for example. They don't like each other. We can see from their rivalry that they're still quite childish, which is normal since they're only 17. Or with Kantoku, we see that she remains polite and courteous, while Kana indulges in "offensive" (but true) remarks. Akane refrains from this kind of thing since Kana and Akane are illustrated in the story as opposites ( blue/red, serious/mesquine… )
– "Akane is a yandere"
Maybe she is. Like literally. But it's important to remember that by the time she tells Aqua she'll help him kill the one he's after, just hours before, she'd figured out he was Ai's son. If she's smart enough to figure that out in such a short time, then it's impossible that she didn't realize that the man Aqua is looking for is involved in his mother's murder.
As much as I adore Akane, it's true that murder is murder, so what she said is indeed not to be taken lightly. But she didn't give enough thought to what it would involve. It's only later that we realize that her way of seeing things has changed ( Scan 148 ). An error of judgment on such a sensitive subject + a strong feeling of gratitude towards your savior + the fact that she's still young. I can't really blame her. Besides, you have to dissociate her feelings for Aqua and her logical reasoning throughout the story.
– "The relationship between Akane and Aqua is toxic"
The obsessive side mentioned in the video is akin to the fact that a toxic person is capable of loving, but often loves in the wrong way. However, I don't think this applies to Akane. For me, their relationship is never that of a couple, just that of 2 very close friends. Aqua is not in love with Akane, he's made that clear. He walked away from her when he didn't need her anymore, but this was his way of keeping her out of his revenge ( Scan 98 ) since he cares about her as a friend ( Scan 97 ). Akane had feelings for him, but she too was able to move on. She has recovered from her break-up with Aqua ( Scan 149 ) and encourages him not to commit the irreparable.
I mean, as a Yandere Enthusiast, I had the same face as Aqua during that scene
And kinda fell in love

Mostly true through Tokyo Blade arc, but not true afterward through Ch. 96. You're right that she copies personalities and goes with what Aqua's scheming, which is toxic, but also afterward shows that if Aqua were able to make certain decisions and give up his goal, both can be healthy and happy.

From the previous two videos, it was clear that you were a fan of Kana, But now you are explaining Akane's character in a way that may make some followers understand her wrongly, or even Akane's fans may understand you wrongly.
And i think that calling akane yandere or without a character is very exaggerated as a follower of the manga

in manga till now akane is still the smartest & actually the nicest in the series, most things she did mainly what she think best to help save aqua, either act like she support or go against his plan, ngl the others especially kana actually not even close to akane lvl at all & now kana just actually keep making things worse instead in reality as always

Romance or not, Akane will still be an interesting character. Aqua can have Kana because without the romantic drive, she is inferior to Akane.
Well honestly first of all Akane isn’t normal. Like man why would kill someone without knowing anything of what that person has done wrong to die. Just because your crush wants that person to be dead that also don’t give you the right to kill them. That’s a psychotic behaviour

I really like Akane but I also understand that the direction she's taking their relationship is unhealthy as hell. I'm anime only so I don't know where anything is headed, but if you asked me I would assume that Aqua's insistence over their relationship being for appearances for their work made her feel like she was being put at arm's length from the person that saved her life.
Given the tone of this show I don't really EXPECT the show to take this direction, but what I would LIKE to see is Akane taking the knowledge she learned from his sleeptalking and Gotanda after piecing things together and tty talking to him about how to deal with it. It would be a cool callback moment if that happened later and she that she would support him like she did in the latest episode, though.
But that's just me rambling about my personal desire for the plot, which is obviously not the same as the author's vision for it.
I think you're kind of right, definitely right about the aqua seeing her as a tool, he did the same for kana. I wouldn't go as far as to say she doesn't have her own personality but its true she copies Ai.
Spoilers ahead:
I read the manga as well, near the lastest chapter Akane cuts her hair to say that she doesn't need to copy Ai anymore. I think one of the worst moments is when she knows about how Aqua likes Kana, but ultimately gives up on caring because he's nice.
Eventually, she realizes that even if she wanted Aqua's lies to become true, it just wouldn't be possible by his side and to bear his emotions too, because to Aqua, akane was just validation or another emotion. Thats why Akane gives up on him
Akane is her own seperate person and doesn't always copy, but what makes it bad is that she knows that shes just a tool but doesn't mind, if anything thats what she wanted, to be useful to aqua (Thats near the end of their relationship, i think at the beginning, she did genuinely believe that Aqua could get better, because she loved him**, I dont think it was an obsession)
All in all, I do agree that it was toxic, so is Kana and aqua (not saying that to hate, I actually prefer aqukana)
I think my take is off topic though, i don't really analyze Akane, so any insight would be nice
Ever since I've seen that specific scene, it left me with the impression of that "bad feeling". I'm not even Season 2 just yet but it's a gut feeling that this kind of relationship is too toxic for me to bear.
These are just my thoughts, I can't really put it into words but all I can say is that this is a lot worse than I expected.

Guys you do realise Aqua saved Akane from offing herself? She’s not a Yandere because she didn’t see Kana as romantic conflict. She saw her as competitive conflict in the entertainment industry. It’s not far off to think she’s just very thankful for Aqua saving her and now she wants to help him back for helping her.

I don't feel or think this in anyway… akane is supportive, n helping him get through thay, being by his side through thick n thin. No other character or person would normally do that or feel that way. I don't see what they have as toxic at all. But maybe that's just me n the kinda person I am. 🤷♀️
I will not state what side I’m on, but I don’t think either are good for him. Kana is too self centered and tries to compare herself to his pain too often. Akane is bad for all the reasons you stated as she doesn’t have a healthy mental attitude.
No one is healthy for anyone in this story except for Memcho.
Im glad someone acknowledges that Akanes personality pretty much isnt hers, but a copy of several others.
