What do you guys think? A hint at no/low Elder Dragons or not? I'm 100% sure there'll be 1 or 2 but I for one wouldn't mind none at all, a focus on Apexs being well… the apex of the game until Master Rank is neat.
Honestly Rise is kinda like that, very few actual Elders until updates.
Hmm if they are doing similar set pieces but not the same one as that balahara one, maybe one will involve you having to chase something instead of being chased.
The question is, how many skills will be on weapons? How much of your set will be attacks skills? They may be reducing that so that builds are less META monkey suits and more creative and veried between players. Some may not like being forced to have less attack skills and use more other skills on their set but… That's your own fault, this culture of meta monkeys ruining hunts because they cart 3 times in 2 minutes. All because they think they can copy some speedrun they saw of a sub 5 minute quest or whatever and ruined it for everyone.
Okey so NPCs will cause scaling but will it be the same scaling as the same party size of players? It should scale but not as much because they will be helpful but not as much as players that are actually somewhat good at the game. they said the NPCs cart, that's interesting, so we won't have the animation of patting NPCs' butts like in Sunbreak.
Well yeah, the entire plot was focused on a land where elder dragons migrate at regular intervals. Of course this plot wont revolve around them quite that much. I highly doubt we won't have any in game though. Fewer that World, maybe, probably, but not none.
That's way too much work for a master rank expansion. What, were they just going to have the usual 1 map and that's the only spot with underwater combat? that would be stupid. It would make much more sense to make the next game, in the 7th generation have underwater combat from the ground up, at the start of development.
The game is releasing on Xbox so it has to run on shit hardware. Microsoft demands that games that run on Series X must also run on Series S so the game has to function on a Series S. This won't require much then because of that. Series S is the double edged sword of this generation. they can't say that or MIcrosoft will get pissed but it's a fact.
when can we have romance in MH?
Elder dragons not being here gives me hope that this hame is the soulsborne variations of Monster Hunter where monsters are much more challenging than normal. However if they do end up adding elder dragons for the DLC, i feel like this would allow them to get the buff they deserve effectively making them hell on earth to deal with. Think of it like the strength glow up Rajang got in World, because i refuse to believe a Teostra is easier to deal with, but a buff monkey will make me scream like a child-
I’d assume this just means they’re less important to the main story in comparison to World, where they were basically the main focus of the story. I’d assume there’ll still at least be ‘some’ (even if it’s only one big boss similar to base Rise), but it’s not as necessary for there to be so many as it was for World, given the story isn’t centred around them this time.
Maybe Weapon Pendants will have skills on them now.
Dalamadur would fit wilds beautifully!
I wouldn’t mind no elder dragons, especially if they’re just going to give us Teostra, kushala. Chameleos is fine but I’d rather have new stuff
Please no lunastra
elder dragon is mandatory since MHdos without quest online and always have Colossal Dragon quest. Jhen Mohren maybe ready to returns or sub species of Lao-shan.
I wish we would at least have some Elders since I would love to see them be in Wilds with the weather mechanics. Imagine a Kirin showing up and a thunderstorm rolls in, or maybe a Kushala and tornadoes/hurricanes start to show up. How cool would that be.
I think this topic about elder dragons, they will appear as an update and not related to the story of the game.
I just hope we can explore the deep water section in scarlet forest and see the small monsters swimming around like in MH3U (except without underwater combat)
I think it would be nice to have elders for DLC content. It makes me a little sad knowing a nice version of valstrax for this generation won’t exsist unless they do heavy elder on the expansion.
But less elders is good this time around. I won’t say change that to being always but in this case I think it would nice for elders to be something seriously impactful.
Like add kushala and it become basically something where the weather system become 2x more intense and lethal.
God forbid but lunastra would make ash and fire fall from the sky making fire tornados become an intense weather summon ect ect.
All I have to say is ever since elden ring took that valstrax move I think a current gen render or valstrax would be fitting to show how that ambush actually works and how beautiful it could be.

Really love Josh's vidéos !
I personally think the Elders have fallen into this Pokémon-esque legendary issue.
They are over used, to the point that nothing ever happens without them. It doesn’t have to be “we hunt this monster or there is going to be (X) cataclysmic event”.
We found the kid by chance, he said “hey we out here” and the guild was like “fr?” Boom, plenty of reason for us to be there. Then he says “oh btw this rhianna fan ah monster that was held captive killed everyone I knew and took off and started messing up the ecosystem” tada now we have a reason to explore.
Then we canonically only hunt monsters that leave us no choice because narratively there is only one of us and we only ever hunt the monster once.
My hope is that Nergigante returns. And Shagaru. (My favorite fight from RiseBreak)
Im glad that skills per your equipped weapons was addressed here. Exciting.
If there's no elder dragons they better have some crazy monsters similar to Brachy (and subspecie), Zinogre (and subspecie), all the Rathalos, Nargacuga and 2-3 of its subspecies…
Wilds and in general most MH games are not like Frontier where even normal monsters feel like absolute menaces and there's ranks beyond G Rank, so I hope at least they balance the lack of elder dragons with some of the coolest monsters and mechanics.
It’s understandable for the base game. I’m pretty sure they get added in an update or future expansion that opens up new areas or plots.
No elder dragons is a weird decision
Elder dragon will be end game content for Kirin and Dos dragons.
Just retire teo/lunastra and kushala please.
Cotton, I saw a video from 3 years ago where you said dragons aren’t real they are prove me wrong
Sadness Namielle might never return
As long as they bring back the angry pickle, idc about elder dragons. Unless it's Gog…
Tbh the title “elder dragon” was just an excuse to have an off the wall bonkers fight anyways, and we can have those without elder dragons.
Magnamalo from rise isn’t an elder dragon but its fight has all the hall marks of one.
So… six of one half dozen of the other. Even if technically nothing is in the class of elder dragon we’ll still get cool and otherworldly monsters to fight.
5:21 I was concerned most about this, thinking that My Hammer build armor was just pointless to bring my SnS at all for element damage but hearing that this sounds like a armor loadout swap on top of the weapon swap is PERFECT
As long as toaster and kushala arent in the game ill be happy
Elder dragons are in the game. They almost always have better skills, slots and weapons. Why wouldnt they? After all, they are a level above normal monsters. I know yall trying to push videos out but the last 3 videos have been nothing. These weather phenomenon can be caused by Super Kushala, Omega Namielle and Corrupted Kirin. Distortions from Pokemon Legends is more like it.
I know he said "para-meters" just for this bait comment
What if it means deco slots are unique ie only red decos (attack) can be equipped to weapons.
Do you know if we're going to have a demo sometime ?
Uh wait is gonna be for PlayStation and pc only…?
honestly I don't mind and might actually prefer there not be a ton of elder dragons in the base story (can't imagine G-Rank or even high rank gathering hub without them though). I don't recall there being a lot of Elder Dragons in 4 ultimate's base game so when it got to the part where you were fighting something super powerful, it made it all the more a spectacle
Would have been cool if they put an elder dragon that can change the environment
unless I'm wrong, wasn't that a complaint of Rise that it released with only 2 elder dragons with the other coming at a later date
This is a Monster Hunter game and it must have elder dragons !!!! i dont buy it if doesnt have any
Bummed, Nergigante was my favourite fight in MHW
They will likely work it as they did with base rise, the main "end game" was invaders (Rajang / Bazel / Magnemalo) and maybe Ibushi/Narwa, and no elder dragons till later updates.
Also, when you are talking about console versions, please please, say either Consoles / PS+Xbox… even though i know it is coming on Xbox, i always dread new game releases, due to Sony or MS usually paying for a year exclusivity, i hate the practice, and if it ever happened to MH, i would be both very angry and would wait till the game + expansion to go on sale REAL cheap as my for of protest (it'd be too hard to say no to a MH game)
With the zones being connected, I wonder if you can lead our rooster boy into the forest
All the monsters are cool so i dont mind
Saying that elder dragons aren’t essential to the themes of the story make me think that they will be there, but they won’t be mandatory for story progression. I think that that this time around elder dragons could be pretty much exclusively post-story fights
We love the Elder Drags though! Just not the Kushula Dora lol.
Judging from what I've seen so far, I'm almost certain they've decided to split the Western and Japanese audiences after all. I mean, CHAPTERS? In MONSTER HUNTER? Are you serious? And now it's sounding like they've overhauled the whole concept of armor skills on top of it all.
I was one of those saying Gen 5 would not be the beginning of the end, it was just a new chapter. Now I'm afraid that perhaps I'm wrong.
For the maps I want 3 more. A volcano map, a tundra map, and I want a swamp map like the one from the old games. And something unique would be a classic forest map, I feel like I haven’t seen it before from mh
Honestly I don't want Underwater combat in master rank expansion. Capcom said it right. Making underwater mechanics is like making an entirely new game, it's takes so much focus and you have to do it from the beginning of a game's dev time. I really think making a small side game focused on underwater combat and only having underwater maps and like 10 monters would be a great way to experiment until it feels right.
elder dragons are stapled in Monster Hunter. They are talking about the focus on the monster variety and lore. we're focusing on resurfacing extinct monster.
