I found the hate for this series so bizarre. The animation was always beautiful. I know CGI puts some anime fans off but like, it's so weird to just push off a medium of art simply because of how it's made. Is that not what people do to anime as a whole? Also, if they wanted the original, they could've read either the manga or the 98' anime. I actually did watch the entire 98' manga before I watched Stampede and enjoyed it. However, Stampede seemed to be something completely different, especially from the start. I noticed it was a Prequel when JuLai was mentioned in the first episode and I realized Meryl was younger than she was in the previous adaptation and the original manga.

Great video, man, but i have to respectfully disagree with Trigun Stampede being better than 90s anime. Yes, i have seen 90s show and read the manga as well. Maybe it's my personal preference, but don't get me wrong, Stampede is hell of a good show and maybe my opinion will change in season 2. I do agree with you about Knives being handled better here than in 90s anime. It was massive overhaul on his character and same with Zazie the Beast. Kinda wished we see more of Legato, but they'll likely save him for season 2. Now as for the main characters, Vash the Stampede, i'm glad that they kept his personality intact, but i had some issue with some scenes with him of him constantly failing and being useless, but it was likely the intention to make him grow competent later. I get the intention, but it was not good impression for me. Wolfwood and Livio stuff was great, though so no complaints as i missed that from old anime.

Meryl was alright, although sometimes i have to wonder her real agency. Her starting out as rookie to eventually become senpai is good arc for her, but sometimes i don't understand her real reason for wanting and risking her life for Vash(maybe due to show's fast pacing)As for Roberto, i'll probably get burned for this, but i found him really uninteresting. He seemed like typical drunken cynic archetype i've seen in lots of media. As in regards to Rollo aka Monev the Gale, i agree with you about giving him expanded backstory to make him more human, but at the same time i hated it, because it took away the pivotal moment from manga and 98 anime, where Vash for first time, nearly broke and contemplated killing someone after witnessing all the death and destruction caused by Monev. I wished Stampede would've had scene like that with Vash.

Yes, the pacing is one of my main issues about this show. Characters move to place to place at very fast and sometimes appear in different area all of sudden. That being said the show got better for me around episode 6-onwards.

As for the music, i have to admit i miss the old western feel of 98s anime. I felt it gave the show its identity and feel. That being said, the music in Trigun Stampede is fantastic and i like its ending theme especially

While i don't agree show being better than 98 show(yet), i can safely say the new show is worth to watch and it is another Trigun experience. I cannot wait the second season with Milly. Now, i don't claim 98 anime to be perfect in anyway, because of course it isn't. It has plenty flaws just like Stampede, but at this point Stampede has the potential to be the best Trigun experience we might have in long tkme.

I finished it recently and I can't even describe how awesome it is. If you haven't seen it you should give it a chance it's amazing how they handled it. I completely agree this could be shaping up to be the best version of Trigun. I can't wait for the second season! It starts off a bit rough but it only got better with each episode. Such a good buildup to the end, damn!

Loved the character designs. Hate the arm. Love the story, very much hate how much goofier Vash is. He was a millions times cooler in the original which I'm hoping he is more like his old anime counterpart in the next season. 7/10 at the moment and hoping next season will be 10/10 with cool vash coming back.

personally stampede was my first time watching anything Trigun related. and honestly the show was AMAZING! In terms of pacing not much felt rushed, the ost was just a chefs kiss, Knives was terrifying as a villain (while having an understandable goal), animation is expressive in the best way possible, and for a cg anime absolutley BRILLIANT!

No one asked, but is it ok if I give a tiny bit of constructive criticism? I think your voice is really good for narration, but you talk a tad fast and sometimes you words slur together. Maybe try to enunciate a bit better?

Thanks for making sure to include the original manga. Too many people are judging the show based on the first anime alone .

I am very new to Trigun and I adored Stampede for basically everything as it stood out to me compared to other anime's. I enjoyed the characters a lot, though the only one I didn't have much care for was the old man; other than him I just loved everybody and the soundtrack is something I'll always listen too. Stampede also had me looking deeper into the previous Trigun's, and I can't wait for season 2 as clearly there's a lot of love behind the show and a trusting creative team as well. This is all from someone who rarely watches anime as well since there's just not many that pique my interest enough to give a watch.

Great job with your first review. Very engaging from beginning to end. I‘be only seen the first episode of Stampede and it is amazing to watch. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the series at some point. Can’t wait to what else you’ll review. Keep up the good work my friend.

What they've set up with Legato, Elandira, and Livio is going to be intense.

I'm also a big Trigun manga and anime fan. I'm super enjoying the show. The thing that has stuck out to me is the scope of the world. The environment images, massiveness of the vehicles/ships, expanse of the desert…I feel like I'm THERE. Love their version of July. I hope Wolfwood and Milly are a thing in this version. <3

Thanks to the new anime release, I learned about the anime of '98. And now I Love both of them! But there are things that are more dramatic in the old, I don't mean the general tone of the narrative, but individual moments. Although I think the new just hasn't picked up the pace yet, and it will be even tougher.
And I didn't like one significant detail in the new anime – the development of the Vash and CO' relations is shown worse, in the old one they feel more significant for each other

Argumedies 2023.03.29 - 12:33 pm

As one who has never seen or read past versions I was hooked right from the get go and none of the old stuff mattered to me.

Ilya B 2023.03.29 - 12:35 pm

I've enjoyed this show a lot this winter; great animation, great choreography, may be my best anime of the season unless Vinland really picks it up and Nier actually gets finished. I watched the original, felt a lot of filler, this version is better for me for better story and character design..

Oliver 2023.03.29 - 2:06 pm

the original anime was better than the manga, so im not really hopeful to watch the new one

Matteo Cavicchioli 2023.03.29 - 3:57 pm

To me, the anime has serious script problems l(like having zazi talking about worms and doing nothing at all), not to mention that the western vibe which was predominant in the manga and in the old animation is removed completely so all that remains is the cyber-post apocaliptic which falls under in the sea of countless of recent animation (leaving the low fps eye gouging aside)
But I'm glad you have a different opinion so we can talk about it 🙂

kalter_Tofu 2023.03.29 - 5:03 pm

I like Stampedes animation, the OST, Knives, Zazie and Wolfwood, everything else is not my cup of tea. I like the main characters in the manga and the old anime, but I couldn’t care less for Stampedes main characters.
In my opinion, too many plotpoints of Trigun/Trigun Maximum manga are mixed up and crammed in the 12 episodes and the pacing is too fast. I dislike the old dude, that Meryl is a more or less useless newbie and that Vash is a depressed little kid.
I watched all episodes, that means I gave Stampede 12 trys. Episodes 11 and 12 are nice, but all in all it is mediocre in my opinion. For me it‘s 5/10 compared to manga and old anime.

Davinator12 2023.03.29 - 5:17 pm

I want all three Vash’s meeting each other at the end of this Trigun Stampede show

Brad Emery 2023.03.29 - 5:45 pm

This first season just absolutely nailed it. And that last episode ought to be pretty satisfying for a lot of fans of the manga or the first anime.

Napoleon MacBonaparte 2023.03.29 - 10:50 pm

You Stampede apologists really like to ignore blatantly poor quality of animation. And it has none of the heart or soul of what made Trigun, Trigun. It’s missing the third gun the title is named after.
And the way they handled Livio and Legato is an insult. I dunno how much you’re being paid to blatantly lie through your teeth like this, but I hope it helps you sleep at night.

Piccolo 2023.03.30 - 6:23 am

I blame Berserk, and DMC for people writing this amazing show off
