It think that Trigun Stampede will be 24 episodes but we'll see. I'm sorry the more I watch, the more I feel like I agree more with Knives. I think in the previous show, Vash was just as frustrating, but here he's really frustrating.
I think if I was listening correctly, I don't think Knives is a combination. He's an independent Plant, which is stronger and more willful then a usual Plant, and Conrad simply considers that a superior ultimate lifeform. He wants to take what Nai is, and make humanity to be more like him. The little girl is the closest he's come, but she can still only be as strong as a usual Plant. I'm thinking the girl who looks a lot like Nai and Vash maybe related to them?
As for the mention of the Last Run, I think Zazie was just reminding them of what happened to them when that happened and that's why Nai is taking them so that doesn't happen again.
