Didn’t the writers from Picard season 3 and Strange New Worlds talk to each other?

I tried watching Strange New Worlds and they are re-writing Spock's character. The casting is atrocious. Anson Mount is good, not great, but Ethan Peck as Spock is so annoying with his built-in Justin Trudeau smirk that you just want to duct tape his mouth. Jess Bush as Christine Chapel couldn't be further from the original we all love. Furthermore, she wasn't in space yet as she was working with Roger Korby who became her fiancé. She only went into space to find him. She would not have been aboard the Enterprise at this time. How the hell Celia Rose Gooding got the role of Uhura is beyond incompetent casting. Furthermore, she would still be in high school if this is ten years before TOS.
It is clear the actors playing Spock, Chapel, or Uhura have never watched the original series. Its also obvious, they don't care. There is no respect to the legacy character they are playing. There is also no need to cast them as Chapel or Uhura. Had they been new different characters, it would have made it better. But Ethan Peck is a wretched Spock, and I simply can't watch any more of him bastardising such a cherished character.
Like the references to old TV show plots. Makes me wonder if "Old Plots Strangely Mangled for a Modern Audience" would be a better show title.
Have not watch the second season yet I was disappointed with the first season if I was to give this first season of the overall rating a 4 and that’s being generous. I’m waiting for the whole thing to drop just so I can binge it all at once. Play ripping off a Band-Aid better to get it over all at once just peeling section by section.
Every other scene made me cringe. Poorly written Trek.
I like you more now!
Why do they bother? Do modern audiences want badly written drivel, because that seems to be all they ever get!
I put up with dumb girl boss crap on the bridge but when Spock said "I want the ship to go!" I rolled my eyes and turned it off. And I watched season 1 but I’m not rewarding stupidity.
You know how we look back on old tv shows, cloths and generations and think, what the hell were they thinking? then laugh about how goofy it was.
Before watching your review, I was worried about spoilers.
I'm no longer worried.
I was persuaded to watch one episode of Piccard season 3. Other than that, the last episode of Enterprise was the lst Trek I watched.
I have to agree with this review I have no interest in this series. It sounds Insufferable.
A teary spock. They made him into a simp
I honestly don't understand how you can stomach this cr*p. Just watching this brief summary made me sick! This series is sheer and utter GARBAGE!
"Why won't you all just open wide and take the medicine?"
Dude, Hate watching is becoming unhealthy. We know it's crap. I'm going to start unsubscribing if YouTubers can't make some positive content.
I'm also very jaded on Trek, and Season 1, overall was fine, it wasn't perfect, but there were some pretty good bottle episodes. So far, Season 2, with Episode 1, I'm sitting here facepalming at stupid moments in the show, like Spock being the exact opposite of the Spock we know. Its like they really want Kirk in the chair, but can't have him (as we know why for lore purposes). The writers on Supergirl Season 1 and 2 kept bashing their main character because she's not Clark/Kal because of this as well. This is just a mess of an episode, a lot of it makes no sense for character dialogue in a Trek series.
Anybody remember Quark? you know, the one about the space garbage truck saving the galaxy? Well, this sounds like the kids of those writers grew up and said I want to write what my parents wrote, but for modern audiences…..😏
STD destroyed NuTrek for me. My Trek enthusiasm went to apathy then aversion. I didn't even watch Picard S3 beyond the 2nd episode. I'll get around to it someday. Your recap sounded more like a soap opera than a space opera. Spock being "overwhelmed" by his human side sounded like trash TV.
1) Episode 1 was enjoyable, but is this really Star Trek?
2) I liked the Klingon captain at the end. He projected an air of nobility while remaining a Klingon.
I don't like the ship its to big,
What happened to T-Pring? and Chapel was out there looking for Rodger Corby
It is not just you – this show is 'woke'.
