Captain Rhett reacts the Finale of Fate/Zero. What an amazing journey. I know it took us a while to get here but it was worth it. I adore this franchise and I can’t wait to continue it with all of you.

It was a long time coming to get this point but boy was it worth it. I absolutely love this series and the characters in it. If only there was some kind of continuation for this story that would allow me to follow certain characters and the setting even more. If only.

I mean, you probably wouldnt get much of "monster chad Waver" in UBW, but hey, our boy got his own Sherlock-magic spinoff

Finally this traversty is over i mean its not a bad show but as a fate show its insulting.
Anyway excited to see you react to whatever fate series you chose i pray for ubw

I love fate/zero. Blade works comes second (even a little love for the old version). But so far I haven't liked any other fate. I just think the characters aren't as memorable as these are

As for why you feel bad yes anime series with "zero" set as prequels usualy have depressing endings since they usualy show the worst of the setting and bad endings to give contrast to the ftureu stoesi not that fate stories cant get depressing because they can get but they can get dark and depressing but unlike fate zero there is hope in other titles

Dang, Gilgamesh is one of my favorite villains ever

MewDenise 2023.11.02 - 9:38 pm

I am sad that Saber and Gil didn't get to have a full battle before the end

I have to say, your "they probably ate her" comment got a good long laugh out of me. Summs up the ending of Fate Zero pretty well.

Now go read the visual novel. Pretty please.

The original tense of reincarnated would in Incarnated. Technicaly for Gilgamesh this would be a reincarnation, but given the amount of time its been since he was alive, and that he had become a spirit which would not normally be reborn into the world, incarnation fits well enough.

That second last episode is definitely my favourite in the series (the one before it is a close second), on top of having one of my personal favourite fights in anime, the stuff that came after was a complete mindfuck on my first watch through. Kiritsugu's one of my favourite main characters and I love Kirei, Iskandar and Waver. It's in my top 10 anime and I'm happy that you liked it as much as you did

i made a list of a watch order i recommend if you plan on continuing the Fate/Nasuverse going forward.

Fate/Zero > Please! Einzbern consultation room (10-15 minute shorts explaining some stuff in Fate/Zero, not all that needed, just fun info that the main series doesn't deep dive into, it's on youtube) > Fate/Stay Night UBW > Heaven’s Feel Movies > Kara No Kyoukai > Fate/Apocrypha > Lord El-Melloi II Case Files (Waver + sherlock + magic) all these could fit in the same universe/timeline, except Apocrypha, if you headcanon them as i've done but there is a reason it's there.

Then there are the spin-offs that are more removed like Fate/Grand Order First Order > Fate/Grand Order Camelot > Fate/Grand Order Babylonia > Fate/Grand Order: Grand Temple of Time, Fate/Extra Last Encore and Fate/strange Fake, basically what all these have in common is servants as a concept to work with and the mage world.

Also got to say i know this whole list looks pretty intimidating, i just think it's the best order to consume this world and amount of content that is Fate, pretty much Japan's MCU honestly and like the MCU they can vary in quality series from a 5-6 to an 8-10 like Fate/Zero, really liked your Fate reactions and how invested you've been thorught.

To answer some of your questions:
– This is indeed a prequel, a set-up to the actual story. It kind of HAD to end badly, because the issues created in Zero need to be resolved in the real story. Also, forget everything you know so far about Saber and Kirei, their characterisation in Zero is terrible.
– The actual story is Fate/stay night, which has 3 routes. Studio Deen attempted to turn all 3 into one single anime series which did not work, at all. So the first, the Fate route, has no real adaptation. The second route is Unlimited Blade Works, which was adapted as a bad film and later a decent 2-season anime series + OVA. The third route is Heaven's Feel, which has a film trilogy. I strongly suggest you read the VN for the Fate route as it lays the foundation for the other 2.
– There is no perfect watching order. Zero spoils the ending of Heaven's Feel, but both UBW and HF spoil the events and ending of Zero. So you have to pick your poison when watching. Personally I think Zero introduces the world better and makes the ending of HF hit emotionally harder, even if it's somewhat spoiled.
– Gilgamesh and Kirei do appear in Fate/stay night and many other works. Whether or not they get their comeuppance is a spoiler, of course, but I think you won't be disappointed.
– Waver only gets a brief cameo in UBW, but is the protagonist of his own spin-off series; The Case Files of Lord El-Melloi II and The Adventures of Lord El-Melloi II. It's Sherlock Holmes set at Hogwarts, in a sense.
